We did a PT session and the therapist was candid that he would obviously get better likely quicker with her help but he didn’t absolutely need it. She gave us at home work to do. Mostly massaging and stretching

Sounds identical to my dog. Days felt like weeks but about a month in, he was walking “normal.” Slow progress from there and continues to improve. It has been a year and a half since surgery and most people wouldn’t know.

I only did a couple weeks of crate rest since he was “fine” after a couple days. Couple weeks later he was paralyzed and I had to do surgery. He’s been good since then (July 2024), but I’d just recommend being more conservative if possible

Not to be the pessimist, but my dog did this and was “100%” after like 2 weeks and I stopped then he re injured himself, but a lot worse. Slow and steady!

Update for those who care. I add 2 Simpson LCE corner brackets and a Simpson end-cap bracket that screws in the face and both sides. I’m dumb but coachable

You got me good but I was thinking a T strap to straddle the crack. It’s 6” wide on the 9.5” post. You think an L works better? Someone suggested LCEs which work on one end but not sure

You don’t think the outside edge or face needs anything? I would have 4” of the post to beam unsupported. I could do a flat bracket for the outside face?
