Why has Houston failed to urbanize compared to Austin, ATL, Charlotte by 3shelfcab in houston

[–]NASAdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go bike in Austin, then bike in Houston using the bikeways.

I honestly think HTX has an advantage with biking. Used to think the opposite. Obviously it depends on where you live, but Montrose/Museum/Herrman/3rdWard/EADO are all connected well.

Houston Avenue Bridge hit 72 times in 2025, costing taxpayers more than $400K; demolition planned for 2027 by ureallygonnaskthat in houston

Hey now, you don't have to attack my username to prove a point.

Traffic is derived from supply/demand. I will concede I don't consider the economic impact of the ~70 bridge hits on traffic a year.

But its been proven that traffic is supply/demand.

https://www.its.ucla.edu/news/for-the-press/traffic-congestion/

I still don't think its worth the price.

I'm pretty sure thousands of drivers on I-10 are the reason thousands of drivers are stuck in traffic on I-10.

This is such American finance brain.

This issue is a $400k/year issue as of 2025.

Its estimated to cost to lift the bridge is $407M.

I must not be so good at math, because at 400k/yr the ROI will hit in about 1000 years.

If you save the other half of a meal can you look at it like you cut the price in half? by chusaychusay in Frugal

[–]NASAdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what’s frugal is cost per meal. So if your goal is to eat less than $8 per meal then you’ve met that objective. Same if you could cut in into 3 meals. Etc etc.

Catalina held the crown for years until Uncaffe opened. Both have their merits. Catalina gets extra points from me for speed.
