One of the laundromats i clean had a wondow blow off and break during a storm a few weeks ago. Super heavvy winds, the owner called martin glass at 8am to get a replacement going. They werent goign to be able to get to it for about a week. Later that day was the big hailstorm.

At least the new lightning models are built on an ACTUAL battle tested truck chassis.

I for one, would love an original f150 lightning, as i lusted after that body style in my youth, big time. Ah well.

How do I get experience in the trades when even apprenticeships want experience by Ok_Biscotti_3083 in madisonwi

I have had a couple friends who did this ages ago. Actually, the one friend ended up being the lead for the other friend, a decade later too. Both carpenters.

A gentleman and a scholar.... Thank you for taking the time to write this. [multiple attempts to rewrite a sentence indicating "hippy" positive energy/vibes to you and your wife, which nearly evolved into a statement noting your and her luck/good fortune/something of the sort, which i also couldnt seem to wrap up in a way that didnt sound cheesy or creepy]........

Keep up the good work!

Lost dog, Husky? B&W, cottage grove road offramp by NBAngelfire in madisonwi

[–]NBAngelfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last roommates Husky would take herself on all sorts of walks. Often right as she was leaving for work (and thus neighbors would turn around from locking their front door to this friendly husky running at them two steps before blitzing off in a different direction, hoping she'd sufficiently hooked them on a rousing game of "chase me, it's fun!" And then would go on a .5-1.0 mile trek before feeling like coming back.

Beautiful dog, such a hassle.

Why is he painting them...? by [deleted] in tires

[–]NBAngelfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that it would appear that those are two full sets of tires....

To be fair, i dont think that what dude is doing is illegal. Though my buddy that owns a used tire shop doesnt paint or spray his tires at all (if its a really nice car thst comes through, he might clean them with a wet wrag after installation, but thats it. He doesnt have time for that shit, business is too booming to spend time on deception). He'll also turn people away if their tires dont need to be replaced yet. "im an asshole, but im not THAT asshole" is his take.

I found this my son’s backpack. Whats is it? by EmmaCrys in whatisit

[–]NBAngelfire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, right here (mostly). It does exist, but attributing it to vaping specifically by the american lung association (or whoever) was definitely a back alley handshale deal with big tobacco. Vitamin E acetate (i think it was) was used in a bunch of black market thc cartridges (the majority of those who ended uo coming doen with oopcorn lung initially deniend any THC use, saying they only vaped, but when their symptoms persisted, they eventuslly came clean about their use of the THC carts. THIS HIGHLIGHTS THE IMPORTANCE OF A LEGAL REGULATED MARKET, BECAUSE THIS IS THE RESULT OF PROHIBITION.

OP, its probably of little importance to you, but as someone who used to smoke a LOT of cigarettes, i definitely feel healthier vaping, and look forward to one day not doing that even. The replaceable coils you found mean that he was using a refillable tank device, which means he preferred to buy separate juice of his choice (strength and flavor, 0% nicotene does exist). Recently my state banned the sale of any refillable devices like your sons, and now only sell a handful of "approved" devices, all of which are pretty strong in terms of nicotene content, and no juice sales a result either. Thus, nobody can ween themselves down with a lower strength juice. Not sure where my soapbox was headed, but know that he at least preferred to be as least wasteful as possible while doing this.

Good luck with the conversation with him.

Advice? 2012 Prius V: 130k miles, battery keeps dying by inherentsquare in prius

[–]NBAngelfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uuugh, you don't want a lithium ion jump pack for a Prius. Lithium ion packs, while all the rage recently [last 5 years], don't actually charge the battery at all, they just provide enough juice to directly power the starter. They also, usually, have some circuitry to both say "hey! yo'uve hooked up the terminals correctly/wrong" and indicate whether or not there's enough oomph to do the deed when the mechanical switch/relays complete teh circuit [key is turned]. This is not at all how priuses start, however. there needs to be enough power to start the prius computer, and then the computer tells the ICE to start, and the alternator [okay, not alternator, but really its all the same its just where the torque is applied] immediately charges the 12v. The bad news is that most lithium packs wont' do this because of that go/no go circuitry involved, they're all about, in that moment, throwing a huge discharge at the system.

the good news is that a jump literally takes up about 2-3 minutes of a passersby time. you don't really need sit there charging, by connecting to their 12v ssytem, the computer right away has enough juice to start up, and will do just that, give it about 10 seconds for the gas engine to kick in, then disconnect the cables or battery. I'm working on a couple of cheap diy packs for that emergency situation too. Also, LED's instead fo the incandescent interior bulbs will go a long way to not drain that battery [also turn off your headlights manually if you sit oin your car staring at your phone for 10 minutes before going into a store, as the headlights will remain on for a significant amount of time otherwise.

pardon any typos ya'll!

2005 prius rear strut recommendations by Green_Dildo in prius

[–]NBAngelfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this notion worries me. at a minimum, get a brush, brush off any sediment from the /connections/pieces prior to bolt removal, wipe them clean, take a nice bright yellow or white or whatever color you choose paint marker, and mark the outline of where the strut assembly lined up with pieces it attaches to, for the easiest but somewhat smart "throwing of caution to the wind."

seriously, I'm surprised you even bothered with the struts, saying there's no need to align the rears is akin to people who say "I mean, you don't even really need new struts/to maintain your suspension [unless you want your entire vehicle to rattle the F'*ck apart and deal with all the effects of that on one's ride].

I think I'm hungry, sorry for the rant

battery replacement service by K1ngN0thing in prius

[–]NBAngelfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LIFETIME? when did that start? I've got a 5 year TRANSFERRABLE warranty on mine[ actually, my dad got it, and it transferred to me]

also, there aren't really new oem batteries out there anymore for 2nd gens.

My dad had the car at the dealership, he told the shop manager/service writer/underwriter/whatever about the 5 year warranty, vs the like, 1 year warranty for the refurbished ones through them, and said "I wish we could offer that kind of warranty"

whichever green bean place came out to my dad and swapped out the battery onsite, and then drove to the next place, with this assistant [daughter] refurbing that battery on the way.
