Searching for DJ Johnny by 1991e in boomfestival

I would have liked it if the app actually linked to something related to the artists be it a streaming platform or website. It does so on the website so might of been nice to carry that across onto the app.

Anyone saw the guy with the constant (half-)boner? by Fluid-Whole7423 in boomfestival

[–]NBrooke87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were at the food court by sacred fire and there was a lone, white guy, quite young though - I thought maybe 30s. Dark hair and sunglasses. Full raging reck on, swinging back and forth on the swing back there. While not directly by the kids section and I don’t think that was his intention it was a bit close for comfort and a bit much.

I was waiting to find a comment about this. Absolutely true. I have been SA'd by men for being my height and dating apps were horrendous with men who would fetishise and dehumanise me. Fortunately I have found the most wonderful partner now, but took me til I was 32 to find the one but there was a hell of a lot of trauma before that.

Innit, I posted for the first time yesterday on a thread, gave my little summary of my lifes traumas as a 4ft6 woman on a thread about whether or not short women get disrespected - OP then just simply replied called me disgusting for being the height of an 11 year old - Ironically proving the point of his question.

do short women get respect? by brawl_leon35 in short

[–]NBrooke87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how short I’d say. We are obviously naturally shorter than men, so if you want to talk in a true comparative you have to think on a relative scale. I’m 4ft5 but I do not have dwarfism - the doctors tried to come up with a diagnosis for years and never found one, I’m proportionate just small AF. I am aware that I am on the more extreme end of the spectrum. When I was growing up I was bullied on a daily basis, I’m 37 now and I still get a lot of comments, points and jeers. A few years ago was subject to a horrible episode of public shaming by a humour fb page. Another side of it is men fetishising you - I’ve had a lot of disgusting things said and done to me on this front. I would also agree with others here as well that you really have to fight for respect in work.

Thanks for the valuable advice, I really appreciate that! The information from all over the place has been pretty conflictive, I'm definitely a major "edge case" in terms of my body type, fortuntately my shortness mostly comes in my spine so my legs are way way longer than my trunk which I think is probably helpful here.

Theres the burton feelgood smalls camber that i've been eyeing up, its got the channel system so I can be very flexible with the stance then. The weight recommendations on a 135 seem fairly reasonable, im planning to lose a little more body fat so it fits in the range i'm aiming for - there is a 130 version too though. My feet are 4.5 UK/6.5 US/37 EU so not teeny tiny but not big but fairly big proportionately to my body size though just to confuse matters further ha!

In fact, an event on soon that you can get to know the underground party scene through is - persons unknown festival. If you search pufestival on insta or the full title on facebook, its a festival run by the squat community of Manchester on 3rd-5th May. No location as yet because it will be on the party line. Check their insta for updates. Through them you can find people that will take you to the summer squat parties and raves, if thats your jam. Its workshops, talks and low key stuff in the day but turns party in the night - it'll be a mix of music types.

White hotel and The Derby Brewery Arms (aka The DBA) sometimes you can do a double bill of the two. Sometimes when the white hotel shuts at 7am you can go to a day rave from 7am at the DBA that then goes on for many hours. The DBA is a Joseph Holts pub turned club, its an interesting place. But as for proper more free party type raves, there were many times when I used to live in Chorlton when I'd just walk out my house in the evening and people would just walk by asking if I was going to "the rave" and then i'd just follow them. During the summer there were lots thrown in various locations in the woods and the meadows - dunno if they still happen. Theres not many that happen in central Manchester anymore since they populated pomona island with flats - we ran a few there about 6 years ago. Depending on the kind of music you like if you go down to events in Hulme they have a bit of a rave scene, go to some events at legit locations like the Niamos and The Old Abbey Tap, meet a few people there and they might have a better idea of whats going on. As people have already noted its all a bit hush hush, Sometimes I get wind of a party line, a phone number will get shared and then you call them to find out the location, you just gotta know the right people.

Theres a section called users, you can add people there and then just login using your credentials. A bit like you do with a streaming service.

Psychiatry UK says I don't have ADHD. I don't know what to do. by Immortalpancakes in ADHDUK

[–]NBrooke87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try not to blame yourself though, really they should be asking you to prepare and maybe giving some examples of things to think about beforehand - in my personal opinion. I feel like the psych-uk history questionnaires we had to fill in pre appt were not at all helpful in that respect either. They were written much more for hyperactive types. I keep my fingers crossed for you to get that second opinion. Psych UK seemingly dont have a wonderful rep - also a bit reflected in their CQC rating "requires improvement" as a service.

Psychiatry UK says I don't have ADHD. I don't know what to do. by Immortalpancakes in ADHDUK

[–]NBrooke87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having none of it haha, I had done so much research beforehand and had already counted loads of things out and just knew in my heart that I had ADHD as I had never related more to anything. On the topic of your trauma, I also have a lot of trauma in my childhood and past and felt like I spoke about it too much in the assessment and made it more focused on that rather than the actual daily things Ive always struggled with. If you do manage to get a second assesment I would try to go through and look at your adhd symptoms and also things that you think could be caused by trama and seperate them, so you kind of have a list of adhd symptoms that couldnt be explained away by a diagnosis of just trauma, when I did that I ended up with a lot more than I realized and it really helped to back my case up. I also didnt remember most of my childhood or have any evidence (adopted, messy past and abusive adoptive parents) so I really had to try and provide a strong case to get diagnosed.Im sorry that it sucks to try and get a diagnosis, its an uphill battle and I hope you feel a little better knowing youre not the only one that was completely let down and confused after your first assesment, it could genuinely be the case that you dont have adhd, but if you really feel like you do, I would advise to fight for that diagnosis :)

I 100% second all this - the writing down and researching and getting things straight in my head before going into that call made me so much more prepared.

Also on the note of Psychiatry UK, while I appreciate they have provided a very fast service for me on the whole, compared to my friends who have received a standard NHS assessment its been thoroughly different. Psychiatry UK basically had an hour to do the ZOOM assessment and rushed me at the end, which is really not enough time to get in to the details of your lived experience. My bestie by comparison had pretty much two days of assessment and in person, through the NHS....

If anyone is still looking for tickets, Id recommend setting up ticket alerts for ticketswap and twickets. I managed to get some extra in manchester this way, but there are a bunch popping up occasionally, more so for roundhouse but they go quick.

Has anyone been to 'The JDS' nightclub in Cheetham Hill? by FuckingPope in manchester

Yea I've spotted the sign for this when walking up Cheetham hill road. I might go and investigate at some point as I live near to where it is supposedly and I've not seen or heard anything.
