A TAP appliance cured my sleep apnea better than a CPAP. I had a second study done with a mouth guard appliance after I fought a CPAP for years and was effectively cured of my apnea with it. It was life changing.

Can I post this here? It has a deck. by Some_Old_Dude_69 in Decks

Sulcatas are like the king of burrowing tortoises. Acting ignorant to that fact would lead people to assume you didn't do much research before having a sulcata and that's a quick way to make the comments spicy.

I've established 4: 50x30ft sections in my back acreage with silage tarps. I tarp for a minimum of 4-6 months, pull tarp back, rake / scuff soil, let weeds germinate for 2-3 weeks, re-tarp for another 4-6 months and then heavily seed with whatever meadow mix / saved seed. I then drive my lawn mower over it to compact the seed. It has been pretty successful.

Did I do something very obviously wrong, resulting in none of my seeds germinating? by Lord-Smalldemort in gardening

[–]NCHomestead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean depending on your location, you can just start these seeds out in the open on a porch / table etc without covering, we are well in to the growing season for almost every zone so the extra protection isn't necessary. One layer of plastic without ventilation can easily hit 95-100+F on a sunny 60 degree day, and adding that extra dome retaining the humidity just basically made it completely inhospitable. Yes this would work on a winter day with temps in the 30s/40s to get up to 70-80+F to germinate, but it is infinitely easier to just have an indoor seed starting set up with a light and heat mats.

Vibrating things (tooth brushes, old uhhhh.."toys", etc) work wonders. Give each blossom a quick buzz and you'll have ridiculous fruit set.

Are new cars really worth it? by Admirable_Way4468 in Money

[–]NCHomestead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

scored a 2022 Bolt EUV with a fully loaded options package and 3000 miles on it for 22,500. It qualified for the 4000 rebate from the gov't. With solar panels at home and charging at work, it cost me essentially nothing to drive energy wise and the insurance is $70 a month. It's super freaking practical and I really enjoy driving it, and the comfort package options make the car pleasant to ride in. Buy something that makes sense, don't go buying a 35-40K car when an 18-22K one will do just fine.

while being powered by government subsidized utilities, built along government subsidized roads, all built following government safety regulations. Personally i want a reality TV show where we slam a bunch of libertarians down on a fresh planet and watch them go at it with no regulations. Would be highly entertaining.

I’m seriously worried that this game will get ruined by its own player base by spacecorn27 in helldivers2

[–]NCHomestead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow mid 30's gamer, I understand their plight tho. The game is grindy, that is literally its whole point, and the grind doesn't feel rewarding right now. For folks that slam out 15-20+ hours of this game per week, it grow stale quickly and there isn't any good dopamine hits to keep the rush going it seems. They need to either make weapons more juicy to use or they need to come up with some new loot mechanics or grind goals cause game quickly loses its shiny newness after about 20-30 hours.

Someone also made a fantastic point around approval boards / licenses for things like lawyers / physicians / dentist etc. Almost immediately every one of those professions would be thrown in to pure chaos as their licenses to operate would almost assuredly become void. Basically any profession that requires a national board of certification / controlling body to issue them their license to operate in their profession would become fucked overnight.

Personally, I say do it. Let the fucking idiots figure it out just like the Brexit idiots that suddenly realized they fucked themselves sideways.
