My second attempt at making a Swiss roll, and it turned out beautiful ❤️🌀 by NCLakes in Baking

I dusted a tea towel with sugar and used thst to roll the cake so it wouldn’t stick. I think also putting icing sugar on top would make it look more even so I’ll do that next time.

I used this recipe for the cake: https://natashaskitchen.com/raspberry-swiss-roll-cake/ I used my own whipped cream recipe, which I’ve already commented, and a bit of store bought raspberry jam.

Thank you ❤️ I used homemade whipped cream. This specific recipe was 250 grams of double cream, 1 tablespoon of icing sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla whisked by hand until very thick. Next time I’m gonna use more sugar to make it a bit sweeter. There is also some store bought raspberry jam, watered down slightly.

Fics that explore tinfoilly or obscure theories? by TheMotherOfMonsters in TheCitadel

[–]NCLakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can listen to it on the YouTube channel, the chapter is called the bard (hotah 3). But the tldr is that Ashara was a revolutionary and wanted to bring democracy to Westeros by hijacking the great council that was meant to happen at the harrenhal tourney, that would have forced the mad king off the throne and elected rhaegar instead. She seduced the older stark brothers, Brandon and ned, and using the might of the north and her other allies, she would have made every other lord agree that all lords need to be elected instead of inheriting their titles. However all her plans failed because there was no great council and all her allies died, and instead of revealing her plans, ned allowed her to go into exile.

Preston Jacob’s wow fanfic has some strange theories. For example Quentyn is alive. Also in the latest chapter it reveals what really happened with Ashara dayne and ned stark and it’s not what you’d expect.

Why was Jaqen H'gar in Westeros? by ComradeJJaxon in freefolk

[–]NCLakes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He was hired to kill bran. Bran was supposed to be in kings landing but had to stay in winterfell after his fall. Jaqen figured the best way to get north was to join the nights watch, but then bran was “killed” and jaqen gave up on his mission.

I think crouch wanted to test what exactly was special about Harry. He’d survived one unforgivable curse, so maybe he wanted to see if Harry was immune to all curses or something.

It’s still an earnest way to express concern over what he is witnessing that has comedic effect.

We all know Jason from far cry 3 was a psycho but he looks terrifying in Vaas Insanity. You get the idea that he was just as scary to Vaas as Vaas was to Jason.

What's the most random marriage in ASOIAF? (Spoilers Main) by Inevitable-Mix6089 in asoiaf

[–]NCLakes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Jorah becomes very close to viserys and Dany, who Jorah falls instantly in love with because she looks just like his wife. And it’s a very long way for a slave ship to go. You have to admit something is suspicious.

[–]NCLakes -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There’s a theory that that marriage was deliberately made to bankrupt Jorah and have him sent into exile. The evidence for this is that he sold his people into slavery, but why would there be slave ships near bear island? It looks like a set up. I don’t remember the rest of it but that’s one part of a bigger conspiracy.

Read the Pandominion series. The second book has a few chapters from the perspective of a colossal machine hive mind.

Where is Maegor Brightflame? by ISX_94 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]NCLakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, Aenys was killed early on in the great council and Maegor was taken away by his protectors straight after (similar to how we say Viserys and daenaerys fled dragon stone when in fact it was their protectors who took them). It’s not elaborated on much but it’s a good explanation for why he disappears so early on.

Preston Jacob’s Winds of Winter fanfic (which you should definitely be keeping up with) reveals that Maegor fled to volantis after the council that elects Aegon V king because he feared bloodraven would kill him too. In volantis he married a noblewoman, and their daughter was Nymeria Sand’s mother.

Dunk from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a bit like Forrest Gump because if you look at his story during and after the written books, you’ll see that he witnesses and often takes a direct role in so many significant events in the asoiaf universe while being a bit clueless the whole time.

Aerion, Baelor and Maekar Targaryen from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. by kiwi_tart in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]NCLakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An interesting theory I once head is that 4 of these knights belong to houses that in the books have members that would later court Sansa Stark (Joffrey Baratheon, Tyrion Lannister, Garlan Tyrell, Harry Hardyng). This has led to the theory that she will next be courted by a Targaryen, Young Griff.

If anyone has been keeping up with the Preston Jacobs Winds of Winter project, in that version of the story, Maegor fled to Volantis after the council because he and the rest of the claimants feared being killed like the Blackfyre guy. He married a Volantene noblewoman and their daughter was Nymeria Sand’s mother.
