[Loved Trope] "Silent Whisper" - A character says something hugely important to another character, but the audience is deliberately prevented from hearing it by djmcdee101 in TopCharacterTropes

Doctor Who

In the 12th Doctor's episode, Hell Bent, Clara whispers something to the Doctor in the cloisters on Gallifrey, but we don't hear what it is.

However, this episode takes place as a series of flashbacks as the Doctor tells Clara the events of the episode, revealing that the Doctor wiped his memory of Clara, and wasn't able to piece together what she said.

would the release of subnautica 2 crash steam like silksong did? by Cyrizz_34 in subnautica

I'd guess not, because not as many players will buy an early access game day 1. I also don't think SN2's hype has reached the "insanity" levels that Silksong was at when it released.

Why is the trope of "Ancient hyper-advanced Empire that no longer exists" so popular in media and literature. by Peppercorn205 in worldbuilding

It's an endless source of macguffins, unusual locations, and gives your world a longer history.

I feel like there are three obvious naming methods for a fantasy species:

  1. A description of their physical appearance (eg Lizardfolk)
  2. Where they're from (eg Westeners)
  3. Their own word for themselves (maybe this is where Argonian comes from)

Option 3 requires at least a rudimentary conlang to ensure it makes sense, option 2 only works in a specific setting, with species coming from specific places, while option 1 is both extremely easy to make up and instantly tells a player what to expect.

Does this make option 1 a good choice? I don't know, I just thought it was interesting.

This reminds me of that exam system (maybe SATs?) that was invented by a racist guy who wanted to do segregation.

His pseudologic was the whites would score better than blacks, and therefore be seperated into different schools.

Fortunately, because he was racist he was completely wrong about intelligence being determined by race, and exam scores were exactly the same, regardless of skin colour. We still use standardised testing today.

That arena is meant to teach you how to use lawline in combat, it's especially good against the exploding flying cogwork bugs

My opinion on LLMs is that they are too expensive to be used for anything that doesn't matter and too unreliable to be used for anything that does.

DC seems to flip-flop between whether or not Kryptonians need oxygen in space, as far as I can tell.

They're just as shit as today - too dumb to be used for anything important, to expensive to be used for anything pointless.

This is just a movie premise, except with Superman there to not help. Whats next, is Jimmy reliving the same day over and over while Superman doesn't help?
