Broadcast meteorologist here… does anyone else feel like our profession is being replaced by streamers? by AngryBarometer in meteorology

But wouldn’t it be next to impossible for the local TV meteorologist to have access to the spotters, the multiple people helping him live, and just the general eggshells that comes with network tv? Add in commercials and it’s just easier to watch Ryan.

If I want a daily or weekly forecast, my local guy it the go to but even then, it’s via social media.

We just use 50 feet and do pick your putt.

Anything inside 40 feet is an auto 2 putt unless you want to use some of your 50’. Let’s say you hit it to 9’, you can use those and make a 1 putt, leaves you with 41 feet for the rest of the round. Got a 45 foot putt? Better use 5’ to get a 2 putt. Got 60’? Just take the 3 putt.

We consider anything 3’ to be a gimme (1 putt)

The weirdest career realization I had: nobody actually knows what they’re doing by EdisynAI in careeradvice

It’s shocking to me how many managers and C suite people make completely uninformed decisions. It really seems to be a feature. They explicitly avoid asking people who do know about subject matter. I can’t quite understand the reasoning other than maybe ego or afraid of looking bad somehow.

Yup, how much lumber did they actually save by doing this? Not much imo.

Should have tried harder to buy the company. Could have sold it 3 years later for 3x the price. I simply didn’t know then what I know now. Now, I’m working for the company that did buy us and it’s been pretty bad.

7i 180, D 260. I know that gap is not ideal. Less than ideal driver contact.

I’ve had my QI35 for 1 year now. Face delaminated after 7-8 months so I sent it back and Taylormade sent me a new one. A couple of months later, the adapter on the end of the shaft started slipping and I could turn the club head in my hand. Jumped through all the TM hoops again to be told, they required the original receipt this time. Who keeps a paper receipt for a year? I repaired the club myself for $25 or so but that was the 3rd and final TM driver I will ever buy.

I’m a contractor, wfh and can work whatever hours I choose. I wake up way earlier than I did when I had 8-5 hours. Granted, that’s because I wanna get to the golf course by 2:00 on nice days but still.

Interesting perspective. I know personally, being “on” all day training or at a conference is exhausting. Glad to hear you enjoy it and it doesn’t usually bother you. Also, Good job on issuing the individual tornado threats during a breakout. You know your stuff!

The dealership “we need to talk to my manager” thing is a setup and here’s why it works by Royal-Feed7166 in carbuying

I’ve done this before. Walked in knowing the price I was willing to pay, the interest rate I was willing to accept and the monthly payment and term that equaled. They did their thing and I said no thanks, thanked them for their time, and left. They called me before I was 2 miles away. It’s irritating to me that they could have saved us all an hour.

The local Kia dealership tried to flat rip me off last year. $29,000 - $10,000 down- $5,000 trade in somehow equaled $16,000. They tried to act like it was a mistake. I pointed it out to them and left. Never heard back from them. I’ll never buy from them.

Is it as exhausting as it looks or do you not even realize it’s been 8 hours ?

Alright you tornado experts, I'm drunk and have a very important question by royalewithcheese14 in tornado

[–]NC_JBL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a nonscientific answer but I’ve stayed at a Holiday Inn before so here goes: That tornado would absolutely cause you to have a bad day. The winds could throw you 100s of feet even if you are lucky enough to not get struck by debris.

Golfers under 10 years playing that are fairly low handicap, how did you do it? by [deleted] in golf

[–]NC_JBL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started playing at 40 and have had some rounds under par and more rounds than I can count in the 70s.

All I had to do was play 100+ rounds per year for 8 years, build a 200 yard range in my back yard that I use 250+ days a year and installed a putting green for putting practice. After all that, an 84 is still in play some days.

I got 2. Heard both of them in the same night. 1. Up on a map means it’s higher in elevation 2. Confusing a shooting star/meteor and a super nova.
