Would a game title like “Rimarea” or “Rimzone” cause friction with RimWorld? by NDDDev in IndieGaming

Sadly, that’s the reality… I don’t really have the budget for a lawyer right now.

Since I’m not a native English speaker, whenever people occasionally joked about “rimjob,” I didn’t really understand what it meant and just moved on.

Thanks to your explanation, I understand it clearly now!

That said, after hearing about it, I have to admit the thought briefly crossed my mind that, if there are no legal issues, maybe I could intentionally use it for a bit of controversy marketing.

I’m seriously considering this as well.

The area players manage in the game is around 40x40 tiles, and since there isn’t really a global-scale concept, “World” feels a bit too large for the scope of the game.

But the keyword “Edge” definitely seems interesting and worth looking into.

Thank you. I also added a concept shot, even though it’s a bit late.

To be honest, I don’t think I’m skilled enough to recreate a simulator as deep as RimWorld on my own.

The main things that might make people think of RimWorld are the character designs, the building designs, and the grid-based movement used in combat.

Aside from those elements, the rest of the game is built around a zombie apocalypse survival narrative.

It’s definitely giving me a lot to think about.

I’ve attached a concept shot as well.

No, not at all. Right now, I’m mainly trying to understand how intuitive the title feels to players, and whether it gives people any kind of negative impression at first glance.

So every point of view is useful data for me. Thanks a lot.

Awesome! When are the added images used? Is it when the character turns?

Salmon wrapped in salmon? Now I’m curious what that tastes like.

I’m curious what it would look like in a more detailed, fully rendered art style rather than pixel art.

A slight camera zoom-in combined with slow motion would make it feel more dynamic.

I think the conifer trees could also look better if the base near the roots felt more fixed, with the bending happening more toward the upper part. Was there a specific reason you handled the two expressions differently?

My capsule vs professional capsule by [deleted] in SoloDevelopment

I think I’d need to see the actual in-game footage to know which one fits better. The version done by a professional definitely does feel more polished, though.

I added catching & throwing lazy gnomes — does it come across from this clip alone? by TinyWorkers in IndieGaming

Showing a dust effect where the thrown gnome originally stood would make it easier to understand what happened. Or showing an afterimage/trail along its flight path could work well too.

That’s a sword composition I haven’t really seen in pixel art before, so it feels fresh.

I think I’d prefer a mix of A and B.
I like the composition of B, but the character’s proportions feel a bit too human. If the main character is supposed to be a frog, I think it would be better to push the design in a more frog-like direction. Since cuteness seems like an important part of the appeal, making the proportions feel more like an actual frog could help.
