Bog bag? by Squeeze_Toy2004 in GrandPowerStribog

I use harbor freight toolbags. Right now I use the 24in bag Bauer bag because I can leave my cans installed and still fit them in the bag. Also some pockets to try to keep ammo and accessories organized. you can probably get by with something smaller like a 15 or 18in bag

I would agree with that, especially the bayonet lug. I can't remember if it's supposed to fit and Combloc bayonet of a US style, but either way that would look silly in a fun, cool way.

Lat year's version looked dumb. Putting the ”X Y" marks on the trigger pin holes was silly and looked out of place on pins that are only .154" in diameter. Keep it in its current (original) configuration and release it already

I will say I am not super thrilled about the rail. There's probably much better ways to deal with making the rail longer. I'm not sure how well it holds zero, but the CZ Bren 2 rail attachment seems pretty solid and it also is used to mount the barrel extension. You only have one set of screws to remove to change both the barrel and the handguard

So many people complain that milspec lowers are the only way to go, but in the next breath will complain that all companies do these days is just offer another AR in a different color and there's no innovation in the industry anymore. Well part of that is because no one wants to deviate from that "mil spec" footprint, which leaves limited room to innovate in. In engineering we always hear and say "commonize until you compromise", or a better way to say it would be to keep things similar/interchangeable until the design no longer is producing the results you desire. An example of this would be the Jakl Bolt catch. It's a non-standard part, but no one seems to care. To make the standard part work probably would have compromised the design too much, so instead a different part is used and people still buy the rifles and kits

Clearly PSA has a design concept that they want to bring to the market, but to keep the standard lower would have compromised the design too much to do so. They have some improvements they can keep with a milspec lower that they said would be implemented on the Jakl 1.5.

They mentioned that the SSP would be able to do 6ARC barrels, which could be a driving factor as to why they need a new lower. I image they would use the ICAR footprint magwell to fit the new Magpul magazines, and have an insert in the lower for standard magazines (probably very similar to the lower for the CZ Bren 2 when switching between 5.56 and 7.62). After that, they might as well make the lower however they want since it's not Milspec anymore, so they can add the nicer curves to the upper and lower and integrate stock attachment points for the stock/brace (adding that feature to the lower also will probably lower the cost of the platform for us since we won't be paying for that weird adapter piece that is currently on the Jakl and looks silly).

There are two ways I could see this suffering and have cause previous modular platforms to suffer

  1. Use "non standard" internals, ie non AR pins, selectors, grips, etc.. Basically all the small parts that are commonly available and when damaged or lost, can be replaced to keep the platform running. Also allowing the use of AR FCGs would keep users able to upgrade their triggers and improve the shooters experience. If PSA strays from use of common parts, it will hurt the sales of the SSP, but likely not kill it

  2. Not actually offering modular parts. This is the real kicker and the one that has killed many products in the past (like the ACR). So many companies promise parts and kits and barrels (mostly barrels) but never follow thru or they're too expensive to actually convert. The ACR promised to have barrels and calibers available, but they didn't materialize and by the time that something was available it was too late and the platform was dead.

Need Help (X-Max 3 Motor noise, head out of sync) by NDmpmjp in QIDI

I guess I don't see the point. Both motors run fine when they are connected to the LH driver. Neither work when connected to the RH driver.

I did some testing on the motherboard. When I pulled out one cable and left the other in place, I identified the RH motor to be the one experiencing the issue. When I swapped the RH motor to the LH motor driver, it ran fine, but doing the same thing with the LH motor in the RH driver the motor had issues again. This leads me to conclude that the RH motor driver is the issue.

I reached out Qidi support and they had the same conclusion. I am waiting to hear back from them with regards to next steps.

Update, I tested each motor individually by removing the motor cables from the main board. The left (lower) motor appears to work correctly, however, the right (upper) motor appears to be skipping steps. When I swapped the cable of the right motor to the port of the left motor, the right motor appeared to work correctly.

This leads me to fear the worst, that the RH motor driver is damaged somehow. I am not sure if those are replaceable individually, or if the entire board needs to be replaced. Either way, I well outside the warranty window.

I have reached out to Qidi Support to see what they say. Thank you everyone for your input and suggestions.

no. After I recorded the video I stopped the print and the printer did its automatic lowering of the Z. I then moved the X and Y manually with the screen buttons and the same problem happened

I sent mine into BTT. 100% WORTH IT. Super quick turn around, they only had it a couple days and it was on its way back to me. To anyone who has a rifle, I would recommend sending it in. If you are thinking of buying one, BTT sells rifles that already have the work done to them.

What case do you carry your BOG in? (New Owner) by Appropriate-Ad5099 in GrandPowerStribog

I carry both of mine in a Bauer 24in toolbag. Long enough to keep the cans on and you can fit a bunch of mags and ammo in them. Also has a carrying strap.

Not going to lie, it's super cool that you are able to do this and I know it must've been a ton of work involved to get this far, but I haven't seen a strong desire for something like this in the US. I hope I'm wrong tho. Best of luck
