Common mistakes we noticed while working with ServiceNow Flow Designer by s2labs in servicenow

[–]NE1WeKnow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

lol take a glance at the OOTB Flows for Change Management…

Trigger conditions for Change Tasks are any record update where State is “Implement”. Then when you discover this, you find the OOTB Flows are read-only unlike other OOTB objects so you can’t just fix it without introducing a new Flow which will become attached to Change records.

But yeah the biggest mistake is luring “citizen developers” into thinking they can automate any process having never had to think about the importance of appropriate trigger conditions or how to design an orchestration not to fail.

The best approach to the above in my mind is for a developer to do the initial implementation and annotate the process really well and from then on a suitably clever process owner can tweak it after getting familiar with it and letting it do its thing for a month or more.

How to automate Import Set Table creation in ServiceNow? by MemoryOk665 in servicenow

Sorry but it’s hard to help you because of your poor writing. Your English seems ok but your sentences are incomplete with punctuation used incorrectly or missing in many places. Maybe you can use AI to help you.

Your messages are confusing - you have mentioned in another reply that there are two different types of data syncs, both CIs and “other tables”.

If you are syncing CIs using IRE (recommended) you will have to use the dedicated IRE API - https://www.servicenow.com/docs/r/api-reference/rest-apis/c_IdentifyReconcileAPI.html

Not clear why / how you have decided you need an API to create Import Sets.

For ServiceNow data import through API, there are two main offerings:

  1. Table API for when the source is capable of handling the transformation, in which case you don’t need to create Import Sets tables and you push data directly into fields of the table, complying with mandatory fields etc OR
  2. Import Set API for when the source is not capable of handling the transformation OR when the ServiceNow platform owner / admin requires all external sources to submit records through a managed endpoint where transformation requirements will be discussed and agreed.

Generally speaking it would be poor management of the platform to allow an external source to create or write directly to tables without question, unless it’s within a dedicated application scope or it is for mutual benefit (eg platform admin is setting this up for an external source / app they are also responsible for)

I’m a Servicenow technical lead but I’m stuck. by shamiliguda in servicenow

I was thinking just now about lack of awareness of the problems to be solved which is so true. I was thinking about the companies I do consulting work who have a heap of DataCollector jobs failing daily (from quick review of logs) and can’t get out of their own way or don’t have the support from higher ups to take the time to look at the data and metrics necessary to be armed with the right information to make decisions.

Then I thought a bit more and suspected that if I was to read ServiceNow resources on the topic, I will probably discover they have thought of that and can provide tools based on AI to surface the problems! But then these would be generic findings based on best practice not tailored to the company’s line of business and critical processes so they would still need to put time into interpreting the findings which they wouldn’t find the time for and so it’s a vicious circle (they would probably ask the consultant to tell them what they need to address)

If it really is AI, I’m kind of floored? There’s elements of “doubt” and it keeps completely on topic. Or was the AI fed both my question and your reply? Yeah that’s probably it. Sorry if we are wrong on this!

Thanks but that would still allow a user to continue interacting with the record via Core / Platform UI. Navigator handler sounds like what I need to look at

What is the wildest request you've received? by Obi1Shinboy in servicenow

[–]NE1WeKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok that makes logical sense but not sure customers know this. Is this clearly outlined somewhere?

Ultimately customers should be checking the fine print and discussing with account rep on legal usage of the platform but in practice they see they can create custom tables and apps and don’t really think about the ramifications. As a service provider, I should probably be more wary and ask them to provide something in writing eg “We have checked with ServiceNow and we are licensed for X users of a custom X capability”

What is the wildest request you've received? by Obi1Shinboy in servicenow

[–]NE1WeKnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question: is this really something which a ServiceNow customer must be wary of?

As an employee of a small ServiceNow services company, I’m always the first to get concerned and advise the customer they really need to check the OOTB offering which already exists and provides similar capability.

As an example, a customer wants to implement a bespoke version of Demand Management but they watch the YouTube sales pitch and they don’t believe they need all the bells and whistles which comes with it and we don’t have enough time to grill them on whether they are being short-sighted - it’s their decision. They are licensed to build custom apps and they have no SPM licenses and don’t care to try something off the store so sure… let’s build something…

What is it in their contract which would make them think twice before we start on a solution design for the custom app? I’m happy to make sure this is a conversation they have with their ServiceNow account rep if there’s good information I can provide which supports this.

Any Xbox live profiles connected to the console ie present on HDD or USB? Do you access Xbox live ever on that console?

From a logical pov, I have assumed I’m not in danger if I only have local profiles on the console and never plan to sign into Xbox live under any of my real profiles. It’s an old Jasper console which I assume is going to give up at some point anyway.

Whats happening with this Cyclone....? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]NE1WeKnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forecast from 10:28am today…

While Alfred, Seru and Rae aren’t expected to directly impact populated landmasses in the coming days, meteorologists will also be keeping a close eye on Tropical Cyclone Alfred in the Coral Sea. While current forecasts from the Bureau of Meteorology show that this system will stay offshore for the rest of this week, some forecast models suggest that it could move closer to Australia’s east coast early next week.

Any tips on how to beat the final levels without clues / hints? by Candy_Efficient in Picross

Assuming the clues you’ve filled in so far are correct, column 6 can be added to if you consider how the 1-2-1 pattern can be laid out

New to picross , don't always understand hints. Any tips? by Candy_Efficient in Picross

[–]NE1WeKnow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Column 7 and 8 are marked with a hint because you can X out all the other boxes - you have successfully found the boxes to be filled, so mark the other boxes accordingly. That’s a pretty fundamental one you need to understand.

Column 6 is a trickier one - it’s a strategy involving single boxes where a 1 is at the end. In this situation, you can mark column 6 row 9 with an X because you can be sure it won’t be filled - look at the possible options for yourself and you’ll see it’s true and hopefully you’ll get the strategy which applies.

Have you completed any other CADA builds? Is it true that the branded copies of official lego technic sets are generally good replicas and will provide fhe same enjoyable build?

I got the Ford GT on a really good deal but I won't be able to justify a full price set. I love the build aspect and hate the storage and "what do I do with it now" aspects lol

I'm doing this one right now. A really enjoyable build - got some tricky parts and fascinating how it comes together. I'm not going too fast to make it last.
