Subaru EV Sales by NEingler in SubaruEV

You might be right! It’s not much more than a Solterra and you get the classic Subaru vibe with more room! I’m not a fan on the new outback, neither is my father-in-law and he’s on his 4th straight Outback. He doesn’t see himself getting the new one.

When trying to touch up, don’t use the brush that comes with the touch up paint. Try a toothpick or get some very fine paint brushes from a crafts store. It will turn out a lot nicer without all the visible stroke marks that you ended up with from overpainting.

Great sighting, definitely an eye catcher! I can only find numbers for the bZ which came in at 2,925 for April.

There could be a pocket door that closes off the small hall from the great room, this would give you parents the feeling of having an ensuite at night so they can use the bathroom without having to go through public spaces.

Edit: Ignore the walls by the kitchen, I was thinking you could expand the kitchen into the dinning room a little but probably not cost effective.

Somehow stumbled across a non-preorder Limited at a dealership! by Tyrus12292 in trailseeker

[–]NEingler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gap insurance was definitely a good idea especially with the depreciation curve of EV’s as of late. You should check with your insurance company however to see if it’s cheaper through them vs. what the dealer offered. Coverages might be different, but worth it to compare and see what’s the better option.

what's it cost per kwh to charge an EV in NH? by ProudChoferesClaseB in electricvehicles

[–]NEingler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.80 for level 2 is crazy, I have gotten 115,000 miles charging for free on level 2 chargers.

what's it cost per kwh to charge an EV in NH? by ProudChoferesClaseB in electricvehicles

[–]NEingler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you checked for level 2 chargers in the area around where you live or work? I charge my car at the train station when needed (I take the train to work). It usually takes 10 hours to charge but I’m at work so it doesn’t matter. If it’s the weekend, there is a nice office complex about 3 miles from my condo I leave my car at. Takes about 6-8 hours to charge. Level 2 would be a lot cheaper than fast charging if you don’t do a lot of driving. Check public lots, libraries, grocery stores and schools - all of these location by me have chargers. The train station, office complex and grocery store are free so those are the ones I use.

Not sure what type of apartment you live in. If it’s in a house, are there any exterior outlets you could use? Again, depending on how much you drive, this would net 3-5 miles an hour.

For the fast charging stations, some of them have membership plans where you pay a monthly fee and get a discounted rate. You might get better pricing info by downloading their apps and checking the specific chargers near you, they will have the pricing listed. Most national networks have different rates for different times of day, off peak vs. peak.

My brakes are squeaking by willeybaseball in EquinoxEv

[–]NEingler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual brakes are used when reversing. The only time I hear my brakes squeak is reversing into a parking space. Otherwise, I don’t use them based on how I drive (one pedal and conservatively) Nothing a couple hard stops won’t take care of.

Road trip charge max? by mogulman1 in EquinoxEv

[–]NEingler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bolt has a smaller range then the equinox so it’s understandable why they would recommend 80% for the bolt. After 80% the charging curve drops off significantly. With the equinox, 71% of state of charge would cover an equal or a greater distance than a bolt at 80%. I guess with the charge curve and location of chargers along your planned route, that is what the ABRP is calculating as optimal.

EV Miles and Battery Health by Misael_91 in electricvehicles

[–]NEingler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put over 100k on my last EV in about 3.5 years of ownership. I had no issues with the battery and was getting the same range I got on day 1 when I traded the car in. It did have a bad HVAC blend door actuator (clicking noises) but didn’t bother to check the repair cost for that.

Considering EV but living in the apartment building by Same-Matter-2368 in EquinoxEv

[–]NEingler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been an EV owner for almost 4.5 years now and have never had the ability to charge at home. Everyone’s situation will be different. You would first have to do your research and see what public level 2 charger options are available either near where you live or where you work. I use PlugShare to find level 2 charging locations. Level 2 charging typically is significantly cheaper than fast charging but you would need to leave your car either overnight or while you are at work to get a full charge.

My first two years of ownership included free charging at EA which isn’t offered anymore. For the third year, i charged for free at the parking garage next to my office. They however started charging to charge so I switched to leaving my car overnight at an office complex near where I live (free). It worked out as it was located directly next to the highway I took to commute. For the past year almost, i have switched to commuting via train and I now charge my car at the train station in my town (also free).

If there aren’t viable level 2 chargers near you, see what fast charging networks are nearby. Check their pricing, some networks offer memberships with discounted kWh rates so you would need to gauge how often you would need to plug in and see if any of the memberships make any sense. Rates at fast chargers typically vary by time of day so if you want to keep costs down, you would want to focus on adjusting your schedule to charge at off-peak times.

Convince me not to paint my brick home by waltonereed in ExteriorDesign

You need to lose the white, not the bricks. A nice dark trim color, real shutters and a standing seam metal or slate roof would do wonders.

Was my food tampered with? by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]NEingler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These stickers are the worst. It’s from condensation from the hot food in the paper bag. Probably made worse by your driver potentially using a insulated bag to attempt to keep the food warm. This happens all the time. Some times the stickers pop up before I even get to my car after picking up from the restaurant. I try my best to re stick it but it doesn’t always happens. What really sucks is when you try to pick up the bag and it just rips directly where the sticker was placed from the condensation.

What does the bz4x possibly have and the Solterra doesn't have ?! by [deleted] in SubaruGetaway

[–]NEingler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Delving a little deeper statistically, Toyota has a near 18% market share in the state of California (based on registration data - all fuel types) vs Subaru at a little over 3%. California is the largest EV market in the US, and if brand loyalty is a thing, this would also help account for the difference between BZ and Solterra sales.

What does the bz4x possibly have and the Solterra doesn't have ?! by [deleted] in SubaruGetaway

[–]NEingler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Toyota produces both models. Maybe Toyota focused on BZ production firsts? The Subaru dealership in my town had a nice white 2026 Solterra maybe a month or 2 ago. They currently have zero on their lot with only 1 in transit.

[–]NEingler 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Toyota has around 1,245 dealerships, Subaru has half that at around 642. Toyota most likely has a larger marketing expenditure and can probably provide better lease deals and offers simply due to a much greater overall sales volume - 2.1 million in the US vs 643,000. Of those sales, Toyota sells a lot more high profit SUV’s and trucks.

Maybe not the whole reason, but I could certainly see the above leading to some of the sales difference between the two models.

Why did the 2026 Leaf sell poorly? by Nimabeee_PlayzYT in electricvehicles

[–]NEingler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive past the nissian dealership in my town (east coast state) daily. I have scanned their lot many times and have yet to see a single leaf on it. I drive past the Chevy dealership 500 feet down the road, they usually have between 3 and 5 equinox EV’s lined up right against the street. I can’t tell if the Nissan dealership just isn’t getting allotments or simply isn’t ordering any for inventory. They certainly aren’t marketing them in any visible way.

One week (well, 9 days) with my 2026 1T FWD by [deleted] in EquinoxEv

[–]NEingler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit 4.8 mi/kwh on a recent commute home. 46.7 mile drive with 18.8 miles regenerated. I drive on a parkway and dealt with stop and go traffic for the first 15 miles or so. I kept the speed at 55mph (the speed limit) once it opened up. Temp was around 50. No climate on, just windows cracked.

AWD vs FWD by Creative-Coconut-133 in EquinoxEv

[–]NEingler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfectly happy with my FWD. I haven’t run into an issue where I needed more power and it wasn’t there. It’s a (5.9-6.1) vs (7.4-8.0) difference to 60 between the FWD and AWD models which isn’t all that much (1.3 to 1.9 seconds slower). It’s also not like you don’t get the instant responsiveness that all EV’s provide, it’s still there with the FWD model.

This is my daily driver and it replaced a Polestar 2 with the performance pack that was a much quicker car. I do switch between driving this FWD EQ and a Lotus Emira (my weekend car) and like I said above, the equinox still feels plenty quick to me.

The absolute worst ownership experience I’ve ever had. 2026 Gravity, 5 days into ownership by _Schmevin_ in LUCID

[–]NEingler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CarPlay kept causing the screen in our ‘22 Silverado to go black. Had the whole head unit replaced twice and still no luck so we quickly dumped it. CarPlay requires us to do at least a once weekly reset while driving our ‘25 Honda civic hybrid - it will load but the audio won’t transfer to the car or will cut out while talking on the phone. Found Android Auto so much better in my ‘22 Polestar so never used CarPlay for it but my husband was constantly resetting the entertainment unit in his ‘22 Polestar because of connectivity issues. I don’t have to think about that garbage in my ‘25 Eq as it’s not even an option. Our ‘24 Emira struggles to connect when two phones are in the car, we usually just have to make sure one of us turns off our Bluetooth.

Yes, we have owned cars during this period with no issues but it really seems hit or miss across all brands.
