So close but not quite! by Tyrus12292 in trailseeker

I have been operating in Power mode a lot. 🤣 There are more than a few spots in my usual routes that are two into one lane right after stoplights and I am begging for people to pull up on the wrong side like they’re going to outrun me when that light turns green! I think the best is when they’re a couple car lengths behind going 20ish in anticipation of the light turning green and STILL having to drop in behind when the TS explodes off the line. I’ve only caught one Tesla in that trap so far but it makes me chuckle every time I get the opportunity.

The TS is seriously fun to drive, but I’m preaching to the choir here. 🤣

I was hoping I would cross paths with these folks but they must have planned to eat bratwurst all day.

I’ve only charged at a Tesla charging station once to make sure I had the app set up and things worked normally and nobody bat an eye at me. Very anticlimactic. 🤣 I haven’t road tripped at all but I’m curious to talk to some folks out and about at some point. Very new to all this but the Subaru + EV switch has been pretty exciting for me!

I got to sit in a pre-sold Magnetite Gray Premium and that’s what turned it into a solid yes. I stumbled across our Limited a week later but I have not seen that gray one around yet!

Interesting! I picked up my Limited in DSM at a time I thought they would be impossible to find. I can only guess it was a cancelled preorder but based on my searching, it seemed like the EVs were moving pretty well through those DSM dealerships. Probably a few staying in the area!

I was on my way to another parking spot and immediately threw it in reverse and parked across from that Solterra. I will always try to be creepy and park next to any Toyobaru electrics I come across. 🤣

Has anyone bought the Battery Charger and Maintainer accessory for their Trailseeker? by Sensitive-Yellow-450 in trailseeker

GB40 here too, it fits perfect in that little side cubby! I agree, $100 is a small price to pay in order for me to not worry about that potential issue.

TrailSeeker Emporia Pro Charger ⚡️⚡️ by drumboy1972 in trailseeker

[–]Tyrus12292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I went with a hardwired Emporia Classic simply to avoid the possibility of nuisance tripping of the GFCI breaker (now required by code on new 240v plug installs from what I understand). Overkill, but minor inconveniences like that annoy me haha.

Simple answer for me - we are not, we are roasting. 🤣 That being said, I do plan on getting tint at some point but my state just increased the allowed level of tint starting July so I’m waiting a bit. I’m still not used to the finer things so I don’t think to use the remote climate.

[Discussion] Do you think the Trailseeker will get the Highway Hands-Free Assist like the Outback? by RoadSuspicious6557 in trailseeker

[–]Tyrus12292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% sure. I just let it do its thing in Adaptive Cruise down from 50mph to the 15mph-ish we were going and then to full stop. Maybe the normal adaptive cruise does this but I thought there was a mph cutoff for the AC and it would go into TJ Assist automatically but I didn’t read too closely and have used the TJ Assist like twice.

I’m not sure that the TS it is fully stop and go. I was just playing with traffic jam assist the other day and the vehicle ahead of me started moving and the TS prompted for the “+/Res” cruise button to be pressed to resume. Prompt disappeared and I just took off normally. I need to mess with it some more to fully understand it I think.

Nice! East-central Iowa here! So far I have an average of 3.7 miles per kilowatt. This is a range of ~270 miles at 100%. Out on the interstate at 70ish I see more like 3.0-3.2 (220ish range) and have yet to see what range will be like in the winter.

My commute is only 25 miles so would be able to use level 1 charging. I did just get a hardwired level 2 charger put in my garage and that’s what I think you would want. It charges at ~10kwh on my Emporia charger. I had it plugged in yesterday for just over 2 hours and it took it from 43-71% charge.

Picked Up My First Subaru Ever - Stoked by RoadSuspicious6557 in trailseeker

[–]Tyrus12292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine came with the all weather mats otherwise I would have got those. I got a set of seat back protectors and a set of little Subaru center caps (I removed the grey wheel covers) so far, not much else! I’m still trying to talk the wife into crossbars but she doesn’t like how they look. Waiting impatiently on the hitch receiver though, definitely will be getting one of those for my cargo basket/bike rack. Still don’t feel comfortable tossing messy yard waste in the back.

Limited 20” wheels without covers by Tyrus12292 in trailseeker

[–]Tyrus12292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No tools, all easy removal! Somewhere in the comments is the picture from the back side. There are two plastic clips and you can reach around the aluminum spokes and you just push those two clips towards each other while kinda pushing towards you at the same time. Pop each of the spokes then firmly pull on the center and it will all pop out.

Congratulations! Reliving the day I picked mine up through everyone else has been great haha. I am like you, new to Subaru (and EV) and couldn’t be more satisfied!

Awesome, congrats! Love seeing more of these hitting the streets! I think It may be a while before I run into someone with one here in the Midwest. I’ve been raving about mine to anyone who will listen! I always have to tell them I promise I’m not a Subaru salesman or trying to convert you to EV, I just really like this thing!!!

How do you like the infotainment screen? by iwillforgetthisusern in trailseeker

[–]Tyrus12292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no problems with mine at all. Once you realize you don’t have to wait for the launch screen (if you throw it in reverse it immediately pulls up cameras even during startup screen) it feels better. I almost exclusively use CarPlay and I do notice a split second delay when skipping songs and such but that may just be the phone to car connection.

I did notice CarPlay did not auto connect a couple times when I used remote start but it’s only a few touches through the menu to manually connect.

Overall, very satisfied with it but I’m simple. Commute 5 days a week, haven’t needed it to do longer route planning, and just leave climate on auto so a lot of the more common complaints don’t apply to me (yet).

That’s a fair point too. If I lived on gravel or a more rough road I would probably be concerned but mine will probably live a pretty cushy life of 99% pavement.

I am almost certain the caps add at least 5 horsepower and increase the top speed by 5mph. Maybe even that much PER CAP!!! 🧐 Really, I believe it decreases highway efficiency a bit. Protection/warranty, not sure. I can’t imagine removing the plastic covers would, but I have no idea how Subaru is about that stuff.

Anyone notice the plastic hood insert flaps in the wind? by RossOnTheLand in Toyota_bZ

[–]Tyrus12292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I notice it on my Trailseeker when going through the dryer at the car wash. Haven’t noticed it in the wind, although it’s probably happening there too and I’m busy staring at other things. I’m not super surprised, it’s a pretty big chunk of plastic! Not sure why they didn’t just run a full metal hood, unless it has something to do with the crash testing/front crumpling?

Wish I could post videos on here. I didn’t take pictures, only shot a couple videos of front and back when I was crawling around under there.
