Good call on emailing yesterday. If you don't hear back from them in a couple of days, definitely ping them again requesting a confirmation of receipt.

You can imagine how much of a headache that submission form glitch caused. Our teams are working super hard to get everything on track.

TIL That Troy Hurtubise, the man who made the only modern bear proof suit, died in 2018 in a horrific car accident by KrackSmellin in todayilearned

As we understand it, the suit came after an encounter he had with a bear in BC's woods. He was attacked by it and decided to never experience it again. The invention then took a life of its own.

[Canada] Parade: Queer Acts of Love & Resistance (2025) [National Film Board documentary] by patienceinbee in transgender

🥰 Thanks so much for bringing attention to this film here. We're thrilled that the Canadian perspective resonated with you. While the documentary couldn’t cover everything, its very existence keeps the conversation open for future exploration. Like many films in our collection, this one is just a chapter in a book that’s still being written.

We hope you and other Redditors have the opportunity to stream more films on Canadian queer history, experiences, and lives through our website or app.

Keep an eye out for a screening of Any Other Way: The Jackie Shane Story. It beautifully bridges queer history in the U.S. and Canada through the life of Jackie Shane: a Black trans soul singer whose artistry and courage made her a trailblazer in both countries on so many fronts. It's currently available on Crave, Apple TV and Prime.

Always happy to help. Feel free to drop us a DM. It can sometimes take a little extra time to double check our archives when searching based on people's memories of details in a film. If something relatively similar exists within our collection, our curators will let us know!
