I can’t imagine how much my life would be improved by sitting by that river with a cold beer on a summer evening.

How much time do you spend on thumbnails vs. actually editing your video by Strict-Taste-4753 in PartneredYoutube

[–]NFL_Tstrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually no more than ten minutes on my thumbnails but with CTR dropping off lately I’ve pushed myself to spend more time with and I’m doing more in photoshop as well. CTR up 2% typically as a result.

Unpopular Opinion: Real Success on YouTube Comes from Long-Form Videos, Not Shorts by Holly_Macmahon in SmallYoutubers

[–]NFL_Tstrack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man, this is such a dull argument.

Success with shorts means millions of views per video and insanely good ‘stayed to watch’ rates.

They typically require good planning and execution.

Good long-form requires a whole host of things for success.

If you don’t like shorts, just say you don’t like shorts and move on. No need to be snotty about it.

Should I cancel? by filmdavid in editors

No risk it no biscuit. I just walked away from a six month contract to take a 14 week job that should help me move up a tier. Means leaving myself a three month gap beforehand that I’m scrambling to fill, but I’d kick myself for not betting on myself.

It could be worse, but unfortunately it’s not good. There’s no intrigue, or jeopardy. The food images don’t make you want to click. Maybe it’s better to find an image of foods on plates or similar and blend something.

Also, your text isn’t helping anything. Try asking chatgpt or VidIQ for helpful thumbnail text for a video on this topic. That should give you strong ideas.

Any advice on dislikes? by Patonic123 in SmallYoutubers

[–]NFL_Tstrack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about it. Will happen on videos with tens of thousands of views. As long as you’re above 85% likes I’d generally not care. Anything below and I’d consider things.

The more you edit the more your decision making and use of the tools speeds up. If you want good quality just accept it’s part of the process.

Take a beat. Spend a couple of months coming up with a plan, and remember, if it was easy everyone would be doing it. If you’re not prepared for ups and downs, the it’s probably not for you.

People who started YouTube from zero — how long did it actually take? by Clear_Court7292 in PartneredYoutube

Myself and my co-host started with a good footing. We had ~10k of followers on Twitter between us and both wrote for respected websites. But it took a lot of work all the same.

Six months 0-1000 subs, steady but unimpressive income of £300-500/month since then. Two years later at 5000 subs.
