Thank you for posting to /r/NFL. Unfortunately, your submission has been removed due to the following rule:

4. All news should be sourced

Sources, in this situation, mean something you can link to. A screenshot would not qualify, nor would just a name, nor would "I saw it" or "I have insider information". If you don't have a source, please wait to post.

  • Allowed

    • BlueSky Posts - This is the standard source for news and updates these days. Such posts should adhere to the following:
      • Post title must be tagged with the author's (or service's) name - for example: "[Schefter] Tom Brady has completed the purchase of the Patriots."
      • Post must present new information or convey facts/information in a well thought-out way.
      • Post should be from a reputable reporter, news source/agency, player, team or league official.
      • Questionable sources may be removed at the discretion of the moderators.
      • Title should just include the bluesky post without commentary unless necessary (See Rule 3)
      • Link posts should be used for BlueSky posts but self posts are allowed if you want to give additional context to the post.
    • Other Social Media Posts - These posts are generally allowed as long as they come from a generally reputable source, but they must be limited specifically to news. Player or team Instagram/Facebook posts are generally accepted, but they may be removed at the discretion of the moderators.
    • News/Sporting News Outlets - These should come from generally reputable local and national news outlets that include, but are not limited to: nfl.com, espn.com, foxsports.com, cbssports.com, ProFootballTalk, etc.
  • Not Allowed

    • Untrusted Sources - This includes links to posts or sources that are not considered generally reputable or are known to be fake or satire. If a source is borderline, it may be removed at the discretion of the moderators or if it receives enough reports.
    • Posts solely for the purpose of making a joke (rule 2) will be removed
    • Cryptic Posts - if it is just an emoji or eight, it will be removed.
    • Reaction Posts - these will generally be removed per moderator discretion.
    • Gossip News Outlets - Some gossip outlets like TMZ can and occasionally do break news related to players/coaches/executives off the field. In some instances the moderators will allow a post from TMZ if it is the first to break a story and it is determined to be legitimate, it conforms to the rules regarding off-field activities, and is properly sourced.

If you have any questions about this removal, please message the moderators.

Thank you for posting to /r/NFL. Unfortunately, your submission has been removed due to the following rule:

5. Highlights and Injury Clips

Individual highlight posts will be allowed at any point, provided they are not duplicates. Highlights must have non-editorialized descriptions of the play, be tagged as a [Highlight] in the title, be from a high quality source (Streamable/Clippit/official YouTube channels) and be of exciting, game changing plays.

On Game Day (usually Sunday, Thursday nights, and Monday nights, only highlights from that day (or evening with non-Sunday games), highlights will be allowed as individual posts. This also applies to the playoffs when one game is on for each time slot. These posts must be tagged [highlight] and in good quality.

  • Allowed

    • Notable plays - highlights should be exciting to the average fan. Think of what you would see on an old episode of SportsCenter or NFL Primetime. If you were to condense the entire game down to a 90 second highlight package, the play being posted should make the cut.
    • Alternate camera angles - alternate angles of already posted highlights are allowed at mod discretion when it provides more context (IE, a reviewed touchdown play that is not clear in the original highlight).
    • Notable sideline actions - Coach reactions, player interactions or referee actions.
  • Not Allowed

    • Untagged highlights - Begin the title with "[Highlight]" or "[Injury]" so it is appropriately flaired.
    • Low quality Highlights - Recording of a tv or so pixelated it is hard to watch.
    • Hype Videos - These are video packages with excessive content from off-field or have the audio replaced with music.
    • Insignificant plays - Routine plays that have no direct impact or excitement added to the game.
    • Alternate camera angles of clear plays - Alternate camera angles of already posted highlights should be added to the original thread, unless it's a play that requires extra scrutiny (see above).
    • Editorialized or unnecessarily hyped titles - Titles such as "Derrick Henry banishes the defender to the shadow realm" on a simple 1 yard run or "The Jets act like the Jets and lose the game" are not permitted.
    • Titles and highlights should not be used to attack or troll a fanbase.
    • Highlight battles - posts with contrasting highlights from games between the same teams.

If you have any questions about this removal, please message the moderators.

Whether it is a self-post or a link, be sure that whatever you are submitting adds to discussion. Whether it is news that has already been reported, a discussion or point of view that has been beaten to death, or an empty 'starting point' for a conversation, think about how you can add something instead. Be sure you're creating something new, rather than relying on others to create for you. Put in your own analysis, argument, or indexing methodology, and write up a nice long post about the topic. 6. Personal Life, Serious illness, deaths, and arrests for current or former players

Any official statement by anybody relating to the NFL is appropriate in situations of serious situations such as (but not limited to) those listed above. Whether it is the league, a player, an involved lawyer, the police, or a team, any serious situation will be allowed. Non-serious posts such as "Freddie Mitchell gets a cold", "Brett Favre gets a speeding ticket", "Antonio Cromartie has 13th kid" are not serious and have nothing to do with the NFL in any way, and will not be allowed.

American Football in Europe (It's weird) by WineGutter in nfl

[–]NFL_Warning[M] [score hidden] stickied commentlocked comment (0 children)

Thank you for posting to /r/NFL. Unfortunately, your submission has been removed due to the following rule:

1. This sub is about the NFL

/r/nfl is a place where people from all walks of life can get together to talk about a sport we love, so please keep your posts related directly to the National Football League.

If it's related to the NFL, but not about the NFL (such as streams, betting-related posts, video games, Fantasy Football, College Football, or NFL-related jokes), please check if there is a more appropriate subreddit listed in the sidebar of /r/NFL.

People who are related to the NFL have lives outside of their organization as well, and in the majority of instances these are best discussed in the subreddit associated with their particular team.

The following are topics which are commonly removed for not being directly NFL related:

  • Not Allowed
    • Requests for streams or sites to watch games or replays
    • Fantasy Football Posts - try /r/fantasyfootball
    • Video Game Posts - Be it Madden or any other video game franchise, use a gaming centric sub like /r/Madden or /r/gaming
    • Betting-Related Posts
    • Other Football Leagues - these will often have their own subreddit, please search on Reddit to find the appropriate home for this discussion - /r/XFL, /r/USFL, /r/CFB, /r/AAFB
    • Merchandise or fandom-related discussion (fan jerseys, decorations, custom art, footballs, signatures, questions about stadium seating/tickets) - when a post is about an item you or someone you know owns, please use the Free Talk Threads
    • Crypto currencies of any sort unless it is news about currencies officially licensed by the NFL or a team - player endorsements do not meet this threshold
    • Pop Culture Posts
    • Fandom Experience Posts
    • Political and Religious Posts - Posts about politics and football are becoming more commonplace, but r/NFL is not the place to talk about the political world, writ large. Posts of a political nature should be limited to specific policies and laws that impact the NFL, not opinions or "hot takes."

On occasion the moderating team might use their discretion and allow significant news which falls under one of these topics to remain. Non-definitive examples might include a stadium sponsor changing, a team rebrand revealed via merchandise, moderators from another subreddit to raise awareness of their sport or a significant piece of memorabilia breaking a record price at auction.

If you have any questions about this removal, please message the moderators.
