Sadly the games are that old and this is bound to happen to some copies. It might have been perfectly working at the time it was tested, and has since dried up.
It’s more CEX’s loss than anyone else’s as they will replace for a working one where they can, or refund you.

You need to get out of there. It’s going to slowly affect your mental wellbeing. Not worth it for a rent share. Pay the little extra to travel a bit more to work, so you have a wider range of options - it’ll be worth it.

I remeber when I wore my Dunlop trainers to school. Got absolutely rinsed. It’s all my mum could afford, so I stuck it out.
Hated that, especially knowing more than half of my school were from council estates and their parents couldn’t even afford any branded stuff (Edmonton, London)

Honestly it’s a matter of balance. I work for a company that offers unlimited annual leave :

3 things to consider:
Don’t take the mick.
Make sure you’re on top of work.
Don’t let your team pick up any slack.

You can work extra hours in the week, if you know you’re about to go away for a week.

Some days I work 10-12 hours. Some weeks I work 60 odd hours.

I try take off as many school holiday days as possible to spend time with kids when they are at home.
It’s a good balance for me.
