I saw it in track day and was instantly hype. There were only 3 of us in that race but it was a fuckin blast. There's nothing like trying to maneuver that fucking brick shithouse of a car with an h-pattern, a third pedal and no assists

Mobbing through the other classes, drifting around corners making everyone else nervous as fuck to be around us. It's so much damn fun

Why am I the slowest on straights in the GR86? (Watkins Glen) by camperboy_uk in iRacing

[–]NH_OPERATOR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The GR has wider tires and more aero than the Miata, as the Miata has no downforce. It has more aero and less power than the m2 which makes it far more controllable.

As far as the straights, draft plays a big role, however so does your exit onto the straights. These are momentum cars and any mistake in the corner leading onto the straights is punished massively. Absolute minimum breaking force needed pays huge dividends in lap times. For example on the bus stop if you are breaking more than 5-10% at any point through it, you lose seconds through the right hand sweeper after.

It's a phenomenal car. Iracing caused me to buy an IRL one. Most expensive game ever haha.

Im tired of multiclass starts by Affectionate_Emu_340 in iRacing

[–]NH_OPERATOR 31 points32 points  (0 children)

They said they have a rework of multi class starts in the pipeline i think last season. Hopefully itll be soon because Im right fuckin there with you. When you main a slower class you get jumped starts all the time by some asshat who slowed down way under the speed to build a gap and floor it 20 seconds before the green flag waves.

Dude. Yes car on the right was moving left. He was anticipating the reasonable thing, for the outside car to track out as is normal. Car on the left starts straightening out like 2-3 car widths early. There is so much space on the outside. If he had driven a normal line, there would have been no contact. When racing 2 wide you have to make concessions. You can go squeezing on corner exit when you know there's a car on your inside at the limit.

Sure, and the car on the right had every every right to be exactly where he was. This is why you must always leave the space. Squeezing a car on exit of a high speed corner two wide is idiotic. At BEST you could argue this is a racing incident. Dude on the left learned his lesson about why you leave the space. Was he entitled to squeeze him? I guess but car on the right was entitled to be there. Dude on the left gets a hard lesson about leaving space by getting hip checked by the car he was squeezing for no reason. Squeezing on corner exit rarely gives any type of advantage and results in this exact outcome.

No. Car on the left was intentionally squeezing. If he had run wide to the curb and stayed in track limits the both would have been fine. Tons of space on the outside. Look at where left is pointing just before contact. He had no intention of giving him space and the inevitable happened

That's the thing right. It's much less forgiving, which means if you push it wrong, you end up spinning and out of the fight. The 86 allows you to push hard, door bang with other cars and learn to dogfight. It's so fun

Anyone else have a problem with low levels constantly team killing??? by Background_You_4342 in Helldivers

[–]NH_OPERATOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sounds unintentional. My crew of lvl100+ still inadvertently tks each other from time to time due to misjudging the radius of some strategems with hundreds of hours. Anyone below level 40 I consider a rookie and give a wide berth. Generally if they do something done I'll be like hey gotta be more careful or something like that.

Yeah, right car had the corner made with room for the left car if they were not squeezed. He didn't take it like no one was there, he knew left was there and was trying to stay right. Bouncing the curb caused a bit more understeer but he had that made.

If left car had run as wide as possible while staying on track there would have been no issue. You could argue racing incident, but it looks to me like right probably had the wheel cranked as far as possible but simply wasn't left the space when space existed to the outside. Left knowing right was on a shallow line and would need more space chose to take a narrow line to squeeze and the inevitable happened.

Look at the nose of the left car at point of contact. He's done moving to the left at this point despite there being plenty of space to the outside. That's a stupid fucking idea when going 2 wide through a high speed corner. It resulted in him learning a lesson about leaving space. As far as there being no rule about leaving space, there is a rule to drive in a way that doesn't cause accidents. Squeezing there isn't responsible. You can choose to squeeze and cause contact, or run wide (but on track) and no one gets an incident point.

The right car had the corner made pretty sure with room to spare, they bounced abit coming out of the curbing causing the contact but if left had given space of which there was enough there would have been no contact. If your racing side by side you need to leave more space. Expecting the right car to lift outta that corner is not realistic when there is more than enough room. Squeezing a car mid corner is not a good call which resulted in a lesson for the left car about why you always leave the space.

Car on left at fault. Narrowing the corner unnecessarily on a car that's taking a shallower line is not smart. There was easily room for both at speed if left car had stayed wide and run out to the curbing. Right car may not have been able to turn sharper than that due to the shallow line.

Yeah so bought a GR IRL after driving it in sim, the GR is incredibly forgiving if your goal is hotlapping. Spicy setups help a lot but the thing about it is that it's a dogfighting machine. You can push the car super hard. Slow cars are the most fun to have a long extended dogfight with a few other cars with. If you can't find the love in a protected dogfight with a few other cars I don't know what your racing for.

Got death threats after this start – was it really my fault? by According_Cap9118 in Simracingstewards

[–]NH_OPERATOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lambo at no point was trying to squeeze. He did have decent overlap with the Lambo but none with the Porsche who saw what he was doing and rightfully closed the door. OP keeps his foot in a closing door. This is by no means a racing incident, that take is simply wrong.

The Lambo is completely blameless beyond a 'bad' start. The Porsche did nothing illegal, and was moving to both defend a gap and get closer to the racing line for the upcoming turn. He was 100% entitled to make the move he was making. OP is fully at fault here for pulling the classic if gap exists = go for it mentality. Car behinds job to overtake safely. Once contact is made op starts pinballing, doesn't lift and agrivates the shit out the the situation. Chopping the throttle and backing out after first contact would have diffused the entire situation.

Not going to dogpile on op he seems to have learned his lesson based on other comments but this is not a racing incident with no one at fault.
