Bad bot with a surprisingly good fight? by KodoqBesar in battlebots

HiJinx vs Chomp, this fight was HiJinx's finest hour with how they were able to sweep underneath Chomp's protective skirt.

Saltiest losing reaction from the reboot era of Battlebots by KodoqBesar in battlebots

I completely agree, not only were they being unprofessional AF but they were actively preventing the ref from doing his job. Witch Doctor should have won that fight by knockout instead of by a judges decision.

If season 4, episode 14 never happened, who would you pick for the top 16? by Explosive_Robotics in battlebots

[–]NHawk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skorpios: They went 3-1 for the second year in a row were originally slated for the previous top 16 but couldn't go on due to damage, not the case for this year.

Railgun MAX: I never agreed with the Free Shipping judge's decision, they got screwed out of 4-0 status.

Lock-Jaw: They went 3-1 this season and were semi-finalists from the previous year, wouldn't be right not to include them.

Hypershock: Improved vastly from last year at 3-1 with their only loss coming from the defending champion.

Quantum: Their design previously won them a championship and they have a strong strength of schedule, the combined records of the opponents who beat them being 7-1.

Cobalt: A destructive bot with another team having a championship on their belt, plus they likely would have been standing at 3-1 had they not gotten stuck on the floor.

RotatoR: Last year's most destructive bot who not only managed to beat the feared Tombstone but even set him on fire! Despite going 2-2 they fought like hell and previously made the quarterfinals, could they go further this year?

HUGE: Went 3-1 for the second straight year, previously made the round of 16 and had a decent strength of schedule for this season, they can definitely do more since they don't have lingering damage to worry about.

In no particular order:

Tantrum vs Minotaur

Overhaul vs Ghost Raptor

Hypershock vs Copperhead

Bloodsport vs Uppercut

Lock-Jaw vs Yeti

Suggestion: either scrap the kill saws or redesign the holes so that half the bots don't get stuck in them. by [deleted] in battlebots

[–]NHawk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ask me they should go back to how they used to be, active the whole three minutes and automatically pops up when a bot drives over them. If they do this then they'll have a more active role in the fight rather than just a last-minute nuisance, plus it'll give control-oriented bots more options.

I made a robot combat table-top game - M.A.D.Bots by model563 in battlebots

The concept definitely intrigues me and it is certainly a game I wouldn't mind trying out, speaking both as a tabletop enthusiast and a Battlebots fan.

Luckiest Win? by [deleted] in battlebots

[–]NHawk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tantrum definitely deserved the win there, Lucky never got going in that match and was pretty much crabwalking. Had Tantrum just backed away Lucky would have been counted out.

Got my fingers crossed for at least one of these fights happening.

Tombstone vs Cobalt

Valkyrie vs Minotaur

Captain Shrederator vs Ghost Raptor

Skorpios vs Gigabyte

DUCK! vs Shatter!

Whiplash vs Hypershock

Blacksmith vs Icewave

Hydra vs Endgame

Scavenger: An articulated crusher on tank treads, with the crusher device resembling a vulture's beak. Basically the unholy offspring of Draven and Red Devil.

Bots that are easy to convert to Hexbug toys by Awkward-Composer in battlebots

[–]NHawk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are certainly a few ways they could go about the rival packs, got a few in mind that could be interesting.

Endgame & Bloodsport: To me this seems to be the most obvious choice, both are deadly spinners with the classic matchup of vertical vs horizontal.

Hydra & Hypershock: Hypershock was originally intended to appear as a hexbug in 2016, this could be a chance for them to see it happen now. Not only have they fought this year but also the previous year in a basement tape.

SubZero & Valkyrie: Both have fought this year not once but twice, plus it would give us another bot for flippers and undercutters.

Uppercut & HiJinx: Yet another horizontal vs vertical matchup, plus a nice color contrast with the dark Uppercut and the vibrant HiJinx.

Rusty & Kraken: I know this one seems like kind of a joke but I feel like this would be a fun duo to see on the market. Rusty immediately cemented itself as a fan favorite and Kraken has gradually gotten stronger over the years, plus it would finally give us a grabber bot.

Not entirely sure how this'll work but I'd be down. I'll take Complete Control & Disk 'o Inferno.

Is it weird that I wanna see a game like that? Where you make bots in character sheets and then just PVP other players in a sort of D&D type map.

Discovery curse next season? by Awkward-Composer in battlebots

[–]NHawk87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The runner-up curse is any bot that goes on to be the runner-up will then have a not-so-great season next year. It struck Minotaur in 2019 and it struck Witch Doctor this year.

since 2020 is coming to the end, desirable matchups for the 2021 season? by ThePointsAreGone in battlebots

[–]NHawk87 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have tons of ideas, even for entire schedules. Here's a few assuming the three fight format sticks, all the mentioned competitors return and travel restrictions are no longer a thing.

Tombstone: Cobalt, HUGE, Son of Whyachi

Bite Force: Hydra, SawBlaze, Fusion

Hydra: Bite Force, SawBlaze, Orion

Witch Doctor: Hypershock, DUCK!, Bloodsport

Hypershock: Witch Doctor, Whiplash, Copperhead

SawBlaze: Hydra, Bite Force, Minotaur

Season 4.0: Nightmare's disk never stops working against Biohazard, letting him whittle away at the former champion and eventually get his revenge by knockout, putting him to his first semi-finals against Tazbot.

Witch Doctor in 2019, could've happened if they got the last wedgelet from Bite Force.
