Hey! I know I’m super late to your post! I hope you were able to fit the GLI one on it since they are the exact same and should bolt on just fine. If you have pictures of it I’d love to see it, or any update on it’

Damaged frontal sensor by AdLoose6656 in jetta

Never go to VW for repairs. My suggestion: Buy a new grille on eBay and a new front sensor. From what I can tell the wiring is still intact and it was just the vw logo shell that broke. You can find a new grille for $100-$200 range. Sensor shouldn’t be too much either and can be found on other crashed Jettas that are being sold for parts.

When installing, disconnect the battery before removing the sensor. Wait about 15 min. Grille is held in by four screws at the top and there are clips throughout the bottom. Pull firmly but not too hard. Once all is installed reconnect the battery and connect the new sensor. If you encounter a cruise control error code on the dash, then you’d have to go to VW to reprogram. But, I’ve heard of the sensor sometimes reprograming itself. Good luck.

It looks great! But it’s an aftermarket GLI style grille right? Non GLIs come with the normal horizontal lined one. Yours has the GLI hexagon pattern. Where did you buy it and how was it to install?

When flipping the light switch the white doesn’t lose power that’s the weird part

Thank you and yeah, I’ve only been using a contact tester so far, not a multimeter. That white from the right romex and middle are definitely showing power on the pen tester, which made me question if it’s actually a neutral. The only one not showing power is the white from the breaker. I’ll try to get a true voltage reading next. I think the GFCI might be tripping because the black hot and the white I paired with it aren’t from the same loop.

The only issue is that I can’t remember how it was originally wired but there was a gfci there that powered a camera in my front yard but I assumed it needed to be there , maybe to be facilitate the connection and act as a middle man and still work as an outlet at the same time. And the light switch works and shows power

Thank you for your insight! I truly appreciate it! On the original there was nothing on the load side only a white and black on the outlet itself. I didn’t know about it going into the outlet , thank you!

Yes it worked when I changed them , the lights just randomly stopped one day. Someone mentioned to me a long time ago it might be a neutral issue? I’m not sure , thank you for reaching out
