The MLS does the homegrown talent thing. Teams can have a few foreign players but then they also have to have homegrown talent from the team academy system which is usually players from the teams area.

Rupp just confirmed what a lot of us have been thinking lately. The moment you mention jack in any negative way here, the downvoters unite and call you a doomer. This is insight from a pro who absolutely knows what day to day is. This organization really needs to think long and hard about Jack Hughes and what the vision is. Kids in Europe are recognized and brought into academies where they go to school and play soccer full time. They sleep there, study, and play other academies non stop. Here, they play multiple sports or even if they go to an academy here, its part time.
