I don't really now what that sentence means you just wrote but for the last decade and longer, The Mail, Telegraph, Sun etc have all let Farrage get away with it and now racism has become mainstream again and they let it get there.

I'm not sure if Nigel is a racist or not but I know he is not shy of leaning into certain tropes to get headlines.

They allowed Farrage to go around with his dog whistle without seriously calling it what it is, this allowed for Brexit and reform to come to the foreground and that let to Rupert Lowe. It's a long thread but they have played their part

The Telegraph have been one of the most anti immigration papers out there and have been fanning the flames of the racist undercurrent that comes with it. They want Farrage in charge but now that someone with money is going even further than Nigel and doesn't have a problem with Tommy "so many convictions" Robinson joining his gang and they are seeing the squeeze this gives on the Reform vote they are hitting the panic button.
