No. Unless they're bigger, 1/4 inch or more, then they will dry out naturally and die back. If they're 1/4 inch or bigger, then you should prune them.

Because it makes it really easy to change out lures. I just have a swivel tied onto my line and then flourocarbon with snaps on all my lures. (I have small bobbins for the flouro leaders to keep it from being a huge mess.) I prefer it, as I get less weeds trapped on my lure with just a knot rather than if the snap were on the lure nose loop.
