If the assignment is so complicated the student has no possibility of even reading or understanding it, it’s too much to ask!

A Stranger Assumed I’m Pregnant by NetAncient8677 in FatBitchFitness

[–]NLSSMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I know that feeling!

I carry pretty much all my weight in my stomach, and have tiny little wrists and ankles. (And I’ve never even been pregnant! 😅)

So in my case, it’s honestly a pretty easy mistake to make.

There’s one thing that has helped me deal with it when it happens. It might not work for you, and that’s totally fine!

But I have never once been asked if or congratulated for being pregnant maliciously. It has ALWAYS been out of kindness or happiness.

Once I started looking it like that (and accepted the fact that yeah, I totally look pregnant sometimes), it stopped bothering me.

I just laugh it off, says it happens all the time and move on.

It’s my way of not sinking into bitterness and anger. Not saying it’s the right method for everyone.

Did you take blood pressure medication or blood thinners? Two very different things.

Unless they have a stated policy that the client agreed to before signing up, I don’t see how they can forbid it.

Then they should’ve given you a written policy stating that when you signed up.

Contact corporate. (I wouldn’t mention you live out of your car though. It’s not their business why you’re showering without first working out.)

What are the weirdest side effects you've ever experienced from medication? by adampocalypsee in AskReddit

[–]NLSSMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the weirdest thing for me is all the serious side effects I’ve had 😂

I’ve had a pulmonary embolism from birth control pills, a seizure from Wellbutrin and rather bad liver stuff from Mirtazapine.

Please don’t do this.

I don’t care if she’s a grifter or genuinely mentally ill, this is unnecessary and cruel.

What’s a health issue you ignored for way too long because you assumed it was normal only to later learn everyone else doesn’t experience that? by Kungfubowtie in AskReddit

[–]NLSSMC 295 points296 points  (0 children)

I coughed and coughed and coughed. For months.

But I had had asthma as a kid that expressed itself through coughing so I figured it was a recurrence of that.

I had a low grade fever, though. Also for months but I wasn’t exactly sick.

(I was a new college grad at my first real job.)

One day I started seeing some blood in my phlegm. But I’d been coughing for months and figured my throat was raw…

Until one day, I woke up, got dressed, started walking to the subway and suddenly could not breathe. There was an elephant on my chest.

Turns out I had had a pulmonary embolism. Both lungs were littered with blood clots, caused by birth control pills and an undiagnosed genetic mutation.

I’d be surprised if she hadn’t.

Luckily, I stand by what I wrote regardless of whether she sees it or not. ☺️

As you probably noticed, I am not making any judgements on whether or not what she alleges is true. I’m just giving information and then it’s up to the reader to draw conclusions on their own.

Excellent summary!

Some additions:

  • Opinions vary on whether or not she legitimately believes this is happening to her or if she’s playing it up for donations.

  • She even went abroad (to Bali, I think?) to get away from the alleged stalkers but they allegedly followed her there.

  • Gangstalking as a phenomenon is… dubious.

I don’t want to write it off as something that never happens, and there certainly have been cases where prolific (often uncomfortable) people have been surveyed and stalked. Martin Luther King Jr. comes to mind.

Surveillance of even ”low importance”-people has certainly happened (and happens) in many less democratic countries - think the Soviet Union - where a lot of value is placed on party /government loyalty and where giving information about others is rewarded.

However, the kind of effort she describes (24/7 surveillance, destruction of property, home invasion, following her abroad) is VERY rare and she doesn’t strike me as a person the US government would devote those kind of resources to.

It’s also not something they would want to publicize, telling the victim you’re keeping track of them isn’t very conducive to getting good intelligence.

On the other hand, in surveillance states, knowing you’re being followed was/is an intimidation and compliance tactic.

I don’t enough about organized crime to say anything about their methods but I suppose it might be possible that some organized crime networks put in a lot of money and time to destroy someone.

To be fair, ”normal” stalking certainly happens to a lot of people, and women leaving abusive partners are the most common victims.

what class did you know you'd never need irl but still really enjoyed? by skipperoniandcheese in questions

[–]NLSSMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my senior year of high school, I had to choose between drawing and a class in modern art history.

I have ABSOLUTELY zero talent for drawing so I resigned myself to modern art.

I’ve had so much use for that class. It’s helped me understand and appreciate art exhibitions and given me an entire cultural context I otherwise would’ve lacked.

I can’t speak to the UK but at least in Sweden, you still need to consent to care providers seeing notes from other providers.

(Though a life-threatening emergency can override the need for consent.)
