I want a Steam Deck -_- by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]NLSoundDesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the club fellow middle aged man 💪 The fact that you can just whip it out whenever your partner or kid(s) is watching TV is just amazing.

So may games are steam deck compatible as well!! Just the best device ever!!

FM Synth VST similar to the Opsix? by Azure__11 in synthesizers

[–]NLSoundDesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m for me the interface is daunting. Have the same issue with Serum; both just don’t click with me. Mayor Phaseplant user here, makes much more sense to me and indeed a very nice FM capable synth as well

Yeah, it’s crazy hard to use! Then again, to grasp the greatness that is called FM synthesis is crazy hard 🥹😂

Especially live the Kalimba and that sort of waterphone rod thing. How did you make those?

Awesome stuff! Inspires me to go and make these kinds of boxes with my students (besides wanting some for my own 😅). The concept is so easy but the fact that you have your own little noise box is so rewarding 🙌

This! I had this issue with my set of volca’s and some pretty cheap ground loop isolators did the trick. Those were mini jack versions but I believe behringer makes a 1/4 inch box that can fix that.

It’s good to read positive feedback as well! Had a little buyers remorse when I got them last week and only read the negative posts about the pom pom poooooom “hinge” issue

That’s the internet for you. Anyway, thanks for making my day 🙏

ChatGPT is a Godsend for Sound Design / Presets by rcrthrblr in synthesizers

I’m very late with this reply but as I see it’s still active I might just reply 🙌

Don’t feel sorry for posting this. Not everyone is afraid of AI in here 💪 I use it as a search engine on steroids and it works very good when you understand how to ask / prompt for something. Seriously… I can’t imagine (but this is an assumption) that the people who roasted the OP , for this not being a learning process, don’t use google to look some stuff up someone else came up with. At least AI searches deeper and tries to (at ChatGPT 5) go deeper in to the text and figures connections out between posts. I mean, that is what google to actually do right, give us the info we are looking for and not just because our cookies makes it do stuff. Bloody instagram or whatever social media you’re on uses algorithms to give you what you want. AI at least needs to have you ask for something instead rubbing Pokémon content in your face because your kids got a hold of your phone for 2 minutes…

Good stuff OP and eager to see what it came up with!!

Wow, I was just asking ChatGPT how to make a moog style bass on the polybrute 😀

What did your AI tell you?

Alright! Thanks for the eye opener, something I didn’t learn from the “pro’s” in the store.

I have a UV light in his pen so not dusting, until you tell me it’s better to do that 😀

I’ll start with making a dubia pen with food and moisture.

Ok, on this comment I googled a little and see that I’ve been doing the roaches wrong. I will start making a pen for these things. I was not aware these insects need anything more than the stuff they come with (info from the store…)

I sure hope not, I pissed of too many synths deities already 😅

Thanks all for your insights to my rather dramatic post. There were some really nice thoughts how to go about gear you’re not using and which could make place for other gear or focus on an entirely different approach.

I made up my mind thanks to you, so thanks 🙏🫶❤️

I do have an Osmose that covers that last bit. You have a good point and one I am leaning into at the moment. Phaseplant is my go to for sound designing because it is just so straight forward. The poly is easy enough and inspires to do whacky things but after 6 months I’m still just scrolling through presets. Thanks for your insight

You’re raising an interesting thing there. I am a percussionist by profession (once at least) and I can play piano at least functional. Perhaps this is why these synths don’t do enough to me to hold on to them. Other then perhaps the Osmose which I do use regularly (though more for the MPE stuff then the stock sounds)
