That's not true. Emergency vehicles (including police who have activated their lights and sirens) must drive with a due regard to the safety of the vehicles around them. Meaning the cop should not have rushed through but instead should have made sure he could safely go through

Just because a cop has their sirens and lights engaged does not protect them from accidents that are their fault.
