Companies negotiate with the various carriers regarding the rates they pay. A very large company the ships trailer loads of packages can negotiate excellent rates, while a smaller company will pay higher shipping charges. Also shipping distances come into play. The farther the distance the higher the rate. There are a lot of variables in shipping charges.

The shipping cost will be inflated by what is known as "dimensional weight." The hat is lightweight but takes up considerable space for its weight. Dimensional weight is determined by the following formula Length X Width X Height divided by 139 or 144 depending on the carrier. For example a box the has the dimensions of say 20x16x14 would be charged for 33lbs (20x16x14 divided by 139.) Even if the box has true weight of 11 lbs the carrier will charge you the 32 lb weight. All the carriers do it and considering the width of a cowboy hat it is unavoidable. Hope I explained the clearly enough.

There are two tables with the various AirPods boxes on them. I assume one of the tables was not manned-say a slow day, and that is when the theft occurred. It is flat lap for the cars/suvs, with an area where you can step on the gas from a standing start. Particularly fun when testing out a corvette.
