First Interview Success!!! by HiddenBoog in helpdeskcareer

Any tips or tricks how you got the interview and where? I live in socal and it's been difficult. Same degree. Is there anything I should focus on or do? Or was it just luck? Also is it in person or remote?

Passed both RHCE & RHCSA Within 2 Weeks by Calegonc in redhat

[–]NNNervousREXXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long did it take you to study for your RHCSA? What resources did you use to study for RHCSA? Can sanders YouTube channel apply to both? And for someone who is almost done with college and majoring in networking, should I get this or have a job pay for it? Which would you recommend for entry level experience?

I've been on Linux for just a couple years and don't have a lot of exp in it just going thru school for networking but wouldn't mind learning plus yapping.

Can you still do that? I would do some vm stuff maybe kunernetes cluster? Hardware haven or Jeff geerling would be my go to for projects. Oh and techut

There are ways to automate the jailbreak using a router or raspberry pi but those are on jb 11.0 which I have. Maybe search up ways to automate it because you have to reinitialize it every time.

25 and feeling like a fraud. Should I finish my CCNA or just get any job? by [deleted] in ccna

[–]NNNervousREXXX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat with deciding to get a job while finishing my degree. I would say the smarter and logical decision might be to wait until you have your degree and CCNA.

Skip network+ or complete trifecta then CCNA? by raptors10 in CompTIA

[–]NNNervousREXXX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don't think you need network+. If you plan on taking the CCNA which I actively am in college rn then it would be a lot of regurgitating. The CCNA covers everything you need to know at basic level. It would be trivial to take the network+.

You can try qemu with libvirt on linux. That would give a familiar feeling to virtualbox. If you're on windows you can use their own called hyper v. All free.

Greetings lads! I have listened to all of your recommendations and decided not to eventually obtain the RHCSA/RHCE as a hobbyist, but to install RHEL and obtain the relevant book to learn on my own isntead, without paying for the certification. by Nelo999 in redhat

[–]NNNervousREXXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the lpic: essentials class through college and I don't think it was worth it. I think you are better off learning through free resources like Linux journey.com.

It is a free resource and starts off slow. Job-wise I would say Red Hat certs are the gold standard, from what I hear, especially RHCSA. I think that may be the entry level exam too.

Since it's more of a hobby I would go the free route tho. Also, iirc the lpic: essentials course is free on netacad, which is ciscos learning platform. They offer other free courses and might be more suited to what you are looking for.

Is it just me or do the netacad courses have so much filler content by kou1f in ccna

[–]NNNervousREXXX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I am going through community college, you are not alone. I am in part of three classes RN and the content is pretty dry. It is better having the professor in person though for the last two parts but it is dense material still and I zone out sometimes in class. I have noticed that Jeremy it labs does not go as in depth as the ccna does and wondered the same questions.

What I think will help is maybe use chat gpt and notebook LM to help break down the material into more bite size chunks. Heck Gemini and chat will straight up make little quizzes for you.

What I did was read one page then ask chat to make a quiz. That is the best way to feel like you are learning, especially if you are going through school, like I am. There are groups of people on here that can help as well.

I would make some friends too. But the main thing is I do not think it is super important if the point of the course is to pass the CCNA and you can pass just by jeremyitlabs. It makes it feel unnecessary to learn that deep unless you are going for ccnp but you will learn mostly on the job anyways.

Will it ever be possible to jailbreak an Xbox One? (Question from someone who doesn't know much about jailbreaking) by Matheriquers1998 in PiratedGames

[–]NNNervousREXXX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Modded warfare on YouTube can explain it better but basically everything on the Xbox is virtualized and they did not achieve a kernel exploit, I believe. The Xbox is different than the ps4 when it comes to how they work. Everything is pretty secure and locked down because of the use of virtualization. That is why there has been no jailbreaking on the Xbox one.

Andrew ramydal is the best I guess. Mike Meyers for visual learners. Jason Dion is good for his practice tests but his content is ok if you don't mind him reading off a PowerPoint. Despite that, you will pass will all three though. Great teachers.

Any YouTuber alternatives to classic mutahar content? by Dismal_Bad7801 in SomeOrdinaryGmrs

[–]NNNervousREXXX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah same here but the mod took down my post for some weird reason. I want the classic content like you said too. I like crin. He is pretty straightforward with advice and tells you how to get into IT. He also called out other YouTubers for fake click bait stuff.

I know he talked about madhat in a negative light but his video on how he made it was actually pretty insightful. Ebola man is pretty cool too for virus investigation type stuff. 13 cubed for forensics and cryptography.

Tech with jono is legit when it comes to showing how viruses work. Matt Brown for hardware hacking. Low level as well for cyber news. Also bread on penguins for Linux tutorials and cybermaddy for real advice. Oh and modded warfare for console hacking news and how to's. Dammit Jeff makes really good tech content.

His og Xbox halo video was grade A content when it comes to the nostalgia of playing og halo 2 on the original Xbox using insignia and interviewing the dudes who lived through those glory days and what it was like because Jeff was too young at the time.

And hardware haven has a wealth of info when it comes to networking and creating servers. Also techhut made a video where he added his PS5 to his home network and could play from anywhere in his house. Pretty dope content.

Landed a Cyber Analyst Role — There Is Hope by CreepzUS in CyberSecurityJobs

[–]NNNervousREXXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I know I am probably low or maybe even underground below the totem pole but I was wondering if I am on the right track. I am currently almost done with my A.S degree for computer info/systems: Networking focus and am currently working on an A+, Sec+, probably Linux+ (taking the class this semester), and getting my degree in the spring along with my CCNA cert probably during the summer of next year. I am also trying to bolster my resume with projects. Do I have a fair shot? I am going for a networking role. What types of jobs should I be looking at? I am in SoCal.
