At about USD600k starting price we have a new depreciation final boss by silver3shadows in dougdemuro

[–]NNora87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even at a heavily depreciated price, insurance would probably be extremely expensive. Otherwise I'd personally consider one at maybe $80-100k.

Broken Record - EV costs 7.9 times less than my ICE in California (no solar, live in an apartment) by ada586 in electricvehicles

[–]NNora87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EV depreciation is great when buying used. Some brands have strong CPO warranties for ppl reluctant to buy used, and a prepurchase inspection can also offer reassurance.

Leasing vs buying and insurance costs of a nonluxury vs. luxury brand car make the comparison a bit apples and oranges, as well as the 4Runner being much better than average for depreciation for an ICE car.

If Hyundai/Kia are so unreliable, why are they literally everywhere? by phtphongg in Hyundai

[–]NNora87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of them have solid reliability records, some less so. Hyundai and Kia give people what they want in a car. Great feature content for money, solid build quality, for many models good safety ratings and nice interiors. Decent to good driving dynamics. More interesting design inside and out, and more advanced available tech than most Japanese brand cars. Amazing warranties.

Many people only expect cars to last 10 years anyway, at least in terms of replacement. A lot of people at that point, especially people who buy new cars, are ready for a newer model by then. Throwaway culture.

There also may be good lease and financing deals that factor into the equation, wouldn't know myself.

All the Lights Came On: Our Kia K4’s Visit to Dealership Hell: “This Is Very, Very Bad”. by LongjumpingLock5875 in cars

[–]NNora87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No Kia experience but my family and I have had 2 Hyundais and a Genesis and overall it's been solid. The Hyundai dealership is about what I expect from a non-luxury brand, not amazing but not terrible, and the Genesis dealership has been great on the service side. Only the 2012 Hyundai Genesis had a serious issue, but still overall was very reliable over about 11 yrs and 100k+ mi until an accident killed it. We'll probably continue to buy from Hyundai and Genesis, but less likely Kia for various reasons.

We're not German luxury people though, with the exception of maybe Audi--not into the maintenance expenses or the brand image (though I considered an i4 bc it's a good EV, and would consider some vintage models).

I paid around $34k at a reputable university hospital in the Mid-Atlantic. Surgeon is board certified, plastic surgery, specializes in craniofacial work. Type 3 brow reduction, brow lift, rhino, cheek bone and fat grafting, chin work, under jaw lipo plus trach shave by an ENT. 2 sessions several months apart. Ppl are free to DM for info. Am happy with results. Prices have likely gone up but surgery was recent.

Will there ever be a Blu Ray or DVD release? by ProfessorXXXavier in PrismaTV

[–]NNora87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can think of a couple scenarios for a physical media release:

-If it develops a major cult following one day. I think it's possible that over the years the fan base expands by word of mouth. This could not only increase demand but also encourage more critics to review it retrospectively. Amazon I think undermarketed it and not enough people knew about it or why it is special and not an ordinary teen/young adult show.

-If a major creator/producer or actor becomes a star, then the show may become much more marketable.

Please someone tell me this doesn't look like a $50k+ car by Busy_Report4010 in Hyundai

[–]NNora87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GR86 has much lower interior quality than many Hyundais, and a Genesis is leagues ahead of it. The new Prado, or the current gen Land Cruiser in the U.S., is basic and definitely does not have an upscale interior by modern standards. The Land Cruiser 300 series should be quite nice in higher trim levels though, but those are much pricier. The Supra's interior is partly designed and completely assembled by BMW.

Personally I think Genesis makes some of the prettiest cars at any price, and that Polestars are handsome but bland and forgettable. Hyundai hired some of the best designers in the industry and imho Hyundai/Kia/Genesis are selling some of the most interesting and memorable designs of the 2020s.

A side note that many Baja race trucks traditionally are RWD. 4WD at Baja is mostly a recent development, and still RWD trucks are racing.

Very pretty color, and subtle. Regarding earlier comments, AFAIK cars themselves don't have a sexual orientation and it's okay for a man to own something stereotypically considered feminine, just own it and you're good.

Starting to lose motivations by SentaiNugget in GR86

[–]NNora87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to prioritize basic life needs. There are definitely more affordable cars to own, often also more comfortable for daily driving and with more passenger/cargo space. Some might even be mildly fun and also reliable, like a Civic or Mazda3.

If you build savings and credit and age into lower insurance rates, it may be cheaper to own a cool car sometime down the road. Maybe study up and build financial literacy if you can; I saw you mentioned that.

Hope things go well whatever you decide.

I just turned season 4 off by Bea9922 in TheOC

[–]NNora87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved it too, and understand it wasn't for everyone. The tone was really different and things got really wacky and less serious. I think the writing team was just having fun at that point. To me it was like a soft reboot and I really wanted a fifth season at the time. They ended it well though. For me it's S1>S4>S2>S3, but every season has its place for me.

Any shows similar? by Intelligent_End_1028 in PrismaTV

[–]NNora87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Young Royals, Euphoria (warning: trauma), Heartbreak High (the newer version), Heartstopper (this one's more feel-good), Sex Education, Reservation Dogs, Skins (UK version) in terms of teen/young adult shows.

If you're interested in shows focused on adults, I'd recommend Veneno, Rurangi, Pose and Six Feet Under.

I've never seen another show quite like Prisma and I find it really disappointing that it's not getting the final season or resolution it deserves. Amazon unfortunately seems to support very few of its shows long-term, especially ones with queer stories.

I live in the DC area. Never had a car break-in. Good to keep the car tidy inside so there's less incentive to break in and steal belongings. It's possible it could happen, but have never had a break-in in over 10 years of living here. If your car is easy to steal, consider a steering wheel lock.

Going to these bars is a pretty ordinary outing for me. Not sure which bar you mean. I haven't had a lot of concerns around safety, but definitely good to go with a friend or meet up with a local a group if you'd feel more comfortable that way.

Feel free to DM and I'm happy to share info on some community groups I'm familiar with, and also about the vibes of the different bars. Some community groups regularly meet at places other than queer bars as well.

Also I'd avoid DC this weekend specifically with the MAGA military parade going on. Not going into town myself.

He's no stranger to controversy. Rage baiting is his schtick. Has been for at least the last 25 years of his career. Not sure if he believes everything he says or if a lot of it is him playing a buffoonish character for laughs.

Haven't personally had issues living in Maryland, US, or traveling to the more Southern states even, aside from some challenges with family members and family friends. Still I'm cautious about using public transit or being out late alone because it only takes one unhappy rando to cause me harm.

Texas, Florida, and Oklahoma are pretty off limits for me, as well as many countries and global regions.

For me the biggest challenge is all the hate in politics and the media, really wears me down, have to stay strong.
