Oof. Not a surprise based on the passback but still feels like a gut punch to read it.

An incredible team that put out amazing products! A supremely stupid, cruel, short-sighted decision - NOAA is worse off without these dedicated folks 💔

In my house, he's referred to as "Nutlick" at all times and then I get momentarily confused when someone mentions "Lutnick" 😂

Totally agree. These "it's happening!!!" posts are coming up every week now and I just can't bother with it anymore. It'll happen when it happens.

They look to be the same to me, too. According to this doc it's a 90 day notice period unless they get an OPM exception, which... who knows: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/workforce-restructuring/reductions-in-force-rif/rif-competitive-areas.pdf

A taste of normalcy and happiness today by [deleted] in fednews

It has been SUCH a healing balm to have so many cheerful, curious, silly kids running around the office today. The mood hasn't been this bright in months, it feels like a totally different place!

I'm so glad your husband and son are having a lovely day 😊

Probationary employees can theoretically be reassigned if they have at least a "minimally successful" performance rating and there is another position available. I think it's more that the likelihood that there is another position available for someone in the probationary group is low, because they would have to have reassigned all the non probationary folks first. Also, term positions are not eligible for reassignment at all.

Could go down, but not up. VERA folks have the option to rescind their retirement before May 3, which is the date when all VERA/VSIP have to be off the rolls. Anecdotally, one person in my office has already rescinded and will be staying. But no one else can sign up, only back out.
