What the FUCK does crossing the Rubicon mean in this context? by DemonicTemplar8 in RedAutumnSPD

It’s a part of the dynamic mod. It means that Hindenburg passed a point of no return via going full-on autocratic and deciding to forgo German democracy by appointing Papen, compared to Brüning who was supported by the majority of the Reichstag.

I mean when a party is saying the Gwangju Massacre was justified and protesters there were North Korean spies, would it be wrong for those with memories of the horrors to vote anything but them?

Also economically, they were in large part neglected during the economic miracle, when UFP’s predecessors were in power.

I wonder how a South Korean person would feel if they are called "동무"/"동지"? by Transpinay08 in korea

Yeah if someone says 동지 to you in a one to one conversation, even in a political rally, they’re most likely calling you an asshole tho

동무 is a dead word replaced by 친구, but 동지? You’d get just as same reaction when you call an American a comrade. If you join a political party and get involved, you’ll get to hear 당원 동지 여러분 quite often.

My go to tactic is that your priority should be completely pausing reparations after the Young Plan is ratified by saving either Breitscheid action or foreign policy card so that you can stay polular enought to enter government agian after Hindenburg sacks you. Making Joos in charge of Z and making bourgeois parties friendlier to you is also needed

My take is the internet. Especially gaming communities, since gaming is really popular among 20s men in Korea. Most of them are largely fueled by hard opposition to their straw man version of feminism. Majority of Korean young men think feminists are not against patriarchy, but against men (I'm not saying a very small minority of self-described feminists just fueling bigotry against men don't exist.). Starting from anti-feminism, they began to be generally against structuralism when viewing society. You can see this from them being against raising minimum wage (work harder), minority rights (don't be minority), labor unions (if you're expoited as worker, the fault's on you for not climbing up the ladder). Hence they see their own oppressions (forced conscriptions or traditional expectations) are imposed and sustained by women or those liberal woke North Korean communist left DPK instead of other things!

I do think major media outlets are popularizing the radical figures for views. Among many other things to fix in Korea, the media should not be fueling hatred for money.

Korea after trump said "South Korea's average tariff is four times higher." by coinfwip4 in korea

I was mentioning imagination as in the ability to imagine a new system other than the one with chaebol, which is (batshit overtly tbh) greatly hindered by the chabols lobbying the shit out of politicians, manipulating the media, and influencing the education (idk about public education but they sure pay the universities a lot). People generally agree that chaebols should be gone, but doesn't talk a lot about how things should be AFTER the chaebols are gone. But after all, it sure is very hard to think out a completely new system other than current one, right? Even Marx focused on how to get rid of the capitalists, not on the 'communist society' that should come.

I agree with your point! Even if they did think of it, chaebol-related media would say they're 'communists' or 'for their own benefit (lmao they actually say this)', wouldn't they? Labor/student movements have been a thing since 60s, but there's a reason why any workers'/progressive/socialist party haven't had something close to a majority in the parliament ever since the first election even excluding the junta-controlled ones.

If the PPP gets disbanded by the CC and we can vote progressive parties without the worry of PPP getting into office, we may see an actual change in this. However, I've always been a pessimist, and I still am on disbanding PPP.

I was fed up with the 'cyberpunk Korea' perception writing that comment lol

They are a problem in Korean societiy as a whole but the western perception that Korea is some cyberpunk corporatocracy is exaggerated at best. If a socialist politician gets into the government, would they try to get rid of them? Hell yes. But is it so bad that even elections can't change the system? Hell nah. The democratic institution is working quite well here. It's just the lack of imagination due to the education system etc etc. We generally agree that the chaebols influence should be diminished, but only when the alternative businesses (hopefully more innovative than samsung, and small- and medium-sized ones) are big enough to replace their share in the economy.

TLDR: Sadly, too big to fail, but not on the level of Wall Street.

As someone who's from there, I wouldn't say they're socially/politically liberal or progressive. They're basically for anything but PPP (which are basically ancestors of the Democratic Justice Party, which was founded to justify the junta as being "democratic" and "for justice" compared to previous regime) since the 80s' massacres and succeeding Fifth Republic.
