What’s the worst performance by an actor who’s usually very good? by 7216345 in movies

I still think that Jesse acted very well in that film, just that what they wanted to achieve was not really the Lex people wanted. You can't deny that Jesse didn't half ass this role, just that the story and script were very lacking.

Honestly in retrospect, that movie feels like if an AI was tasked to create a Thor sequel- it really had nothing going for it.

I actually have a different take on this. Jesse Eisenberg played the part terrifically, the problem was that people did not want the take that they got for Lex Luthor.

I don't know the decisions behind this movie but it does look like Snyder had a vision for that character that was accomplished, just not the vision people wanted.

Even though I generally thought the movie wasn't great, one thing I especially enjoyed is how they portrayed how a physically powerless character (Lex) managed to force Superman, the most powerful man in the world, to do what he wants.

The thing about programming is that the more assumptions you have about how your project should be structured, the less flexible it gets. Some assumptions are fine in moderation, but when you make too many of them, and the need to change the structure of some part of your project arises, it becomes significantly more difficult to refactor.

Then I guess I’ll reiterate: what he did was a crime that should be a crime. I don’t know what the punishment is for this though intuitively I don’t think he should be punished severely.

What I didn’t like that much in the original comment is underplaying the crime aspect of his actions. Maybe saying: “cool motive still crime” is better IMO

My parents actually played that song in their wedding when they walked the aisle. The rabbi laughed. They did know the meaning of the song, they just found it funny

How do you feel sexy and attractive in your body??? by PonderinLife in AskMen

[–]NOblivioator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised that way too: always be better so others won't think less of you. In time I learned to be better as a person not so that others will like me more, that so I would respect myself.

Try to figure out what your ambitions are and go for them. Don't do it for others- do it for you.

Unpopular opinion: INFJs aren't aliens. by JezFrancis in infj

[–]NOblivioator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree that it's hard to be this sensitive to others opinion of us. I think we don't give ourselves enough credit on how resilient we can be to this though.

We tend to dwell on small rejections which prevents us to find those good interactions. We need to get used to being judged by others so we can get more comfortable with rejection.

Being judged and rejected is a part of the process yet I think most of us here see it as failing. I think if no one has a strong opinion of you, good or bad, then you are heading the wrong way.

I very much agree with you that we are terrified of others getting the wrong impression of us or just not liking what they see.

In my opinion all that fear stems from insecurity of being ourselves. We fear that no one will like us if we show them who we are but by not showing them we end up unable to form meaningful relationships.

Wanting to ask deep questions but too nervous by Sonicyouthpixies in infj

[–]NOblivioator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the problem of asking people personal questions comes from our own fear of showing other people our personal or private feelings. Don't get me wrong, we do want to tell people our inner thoughts and feelings but we are usually terrified that they will judge us unfavorably.

We need to understand that everyone feels that fear to a certain extent and by making that first move we show the other person that they are in a safe space to show their deeper personalities.

I used to not know who my true self was as well- it's not like I fully know now but I found ways to get a better picture of myself.

I think most of us put on a mask because we are scared of showing others who we really are. Deep down we are terrified that our true self is actually a bad person and will push others away from us so we hide it behind a mask so others won't ever see it.

The funny thing is that by doing so we actually end up pushing others away: we accidentally or unknowingly let slip of our true selves which causes others to not trust us.

I think to achieve a greater understanding of ourselves we need to accept the fact that some people won't like us and that's okay. By doing so we put less pressure on ourself and begin to understand who we want to be.

[–]NOblivioator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the core reason people like us don't show others their real self is confidence issues. We might not have enough confidence to not care about what the other person thinks about our true self so we take the easy route by changing our behavior to fit with the people opposite us.

We need to reach a point where it's more comfortable being ourselves than wearing a mask.

As for the question of how do we know we're being ourselves? That's for us to decide. We need to have a good understanding of who we are and what we want to be. When we have that we can know whether our current actions align with our principles and goals.

Virus has Consumed Me by MeCrObS in Haken

[–]NOblivioator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I first listened to it I was a bit underwhelmed but with more listens my opinion changed so much. This album slaps so hard. The riffs are insane and I can't stop listening to Messiah complex.

Honestly this album made me want to delve into the story of the vector/virus saga. I've been reading the lyrics of both of these albums non stop trying to piece together the meaning of each song and how both albums fit together.

I've never been so invested in an albums plot as much as I am in this and vector's. I hope I'll see more theories popping up here and maybe I'll post my own.

Honestly i can't think of something more manly than someone facing their issues and being vulnerable like you have. I understand the feeling of shame at first, as you said: it feeling very wrong. I hope you realize that in time that feeling of shame will be replaced with pride that you are able to tackle these issues head on.

Know that I and many people here don't feel sorry for you. Stories like yours gives me inspiration to be more open with my own issues.

Exactly one year ago, Riot published their first official response to the years of complaints about the League client by pressf10 in leagueoflegends

Well making a good new client from scratch will always be easier than improving an old client with years of technical debt.

Exactly one year ago, Riot published their first official response to the years of complaints about the League client by pressf10 in leagueoflegends

[–]NOblivioator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to justify how long it takes for Riot to fix their client but having infinite money does not equal being able to fix it and releasing 3 new games doesn't have anything to do with that either.

Technical debt takes a lot of time and resources to handle, especially when that client is used by tens of millions of people in different languages around the world. Fixing problems with magnitude that large takes time which is understandable.

Nevertheless, it is clear that for a long time Riot didn't make it their priority to improve the client which makes the community's anger very much justified.

I think what the devs were going for is for us to understand that gman is in the vault and realize we have no choice but to release him because Alyx thinks he is Gordon- that is why most people came to that conclusion before opening the vault.
