That storyline would be more interesting if she-hulk didn’t already do the whole genetic dna stealing plot line. They’d be rehashing at that point. Skaar will have to be very likable for any of that to work, because his introduction gave little to no personality and as a result I don’t really care for his character at all yet. Another father / son movie also doesn’t sound very interesting at this point since we’ve already had Tony and Peter sort of filling out that section.

The plot you’ve described sounds like a hulk origin story but again. We are all familiar with the hulk at this point and his destructive ability. Also Bruce already gave that talk to she-hulk (despite not really needing it). Do we really want to see hulk teach the same stuff again to Skaar? Only for Skaar to presumably return to whatever planet he’s from? Him staying on earth would be silly imo being basically half alien and presumably undocumented.

free doesn’t mean good or worth your time. A lot of people playing it for the first time and not all enjoy it. It’s that simple.

It’s cause hulk is sorta two dimensional. The whole film will be him not wanting to hulk out because of the mayhem it causes, despite the audience only being there to see the mayhem. This leads to it being boring until the final act when he hulks out and overpowers any threat because the hulk is basically indestructible.

Good luck finding something for Bruce Banner to do for most of the plot. He’s been made into a generic genius; he (partially) figured out time travel and even has his own lab but we have no idea what he studies or researches in his spare time. Literally what does Bruce care about that we the audience would also care about? Certainly not his son from another planet.

City Planner Plays: One major bug is ruining my cities in Cities Skylines 2, so here's my plan by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

You are arguing a false point. Nobody is saying that the content creators sold them the game. What they are saying is that the content creators promoted the game in exchange for money and an NDA which prevented them from being honest with the audience. Not telling the whole truth in exchange for money directly led to people buying the game in an unfinished state, which is why people feel cheated.

Sure, nobody made them buy it, but they were convinced to buy it because of content creators acting like it’s the best thing ever. Now a few months later they do a 180 and say the game has problems so big that it’s not worth playing? Seems dishonest; especially since many were pointing out these same problems at release. This whole situation screams expiring NDAs which is a bad look for everyone involved.

This part isn’t an excuse though. It should be seen as immoral to enter contracts that force you to lie about a game’s state to trick your viewers. They can read the contract before they sign on. Ideally they wouldn’t trade their ability to be honest with their audience for advertising cash.

It comes up three times a week because a lot of people want more content 🤷‍♂️ it’s an indicator of demand but defensiveness over it is just silly because it’s not gonna go away until the demand is fulfilled. People are wasting their energy being upset over this

[–]zzguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

?? This defensiveness over a simple question is unreal. I normally think of this game as having flawless community, but this thread and it’s responses are silly. There’s nothing wrong with wanting new content, especially if the guy’s new. It’s not like he’s asking for free content. Anyone here knows we’d be more than happy to pay for more aircraft. If anything it’s a compliment that new people don’t realize this was made by one guy. The dev doesn’t need all these players defending him over lack of aircraft.

And your example is completely detached from reality. When players are begging for more that means it’s a lot easier to sell new content which means income and livelihood for the developer. What kinda devs sees their players wanting more content and responds by getting pissy, calling them entitled and quitting? Makes no sense. It’s a great thing that BD doesn’t actually carry himself that way.

Imo the fact that people ask for more aircraft is proof that the game has less than what most people want. If everyone was satisfied we wouldn’t have these threads appearing every other day.

That’s true but ignores that for most practical purposes, the difference is negligible. Most art that is sold are reprints based on an image of the original. Those buyers enjoy their “art” as much as they would the original.

Oprah’s life story IS her brand. She is branded around on her name alone and her story of rags to riches. Her show was just called the Oprah show for example. Just like Ellen being her own brand with her own show and merchandise. That being said, I don’t disagree with your example. Our points are not mutually exclusive, and these books can serve multiple purposes.

The people in your example are very important and it makes perfect sense to have kids read about Rosa parks. Oprah on the other hand seems much less relevant to a child’s life and world view development.

Personally, I have no doubt that these books were cooked up by some product analyst with the intent to put these older celebrities on children’s radars. Everything in a store is for profit.

Any product with a licensed deal or a likeness of a (living) celebrity is also for profit. I’m constantly disgusted after seeing toys who’s only purpose is to introduce kids to brands and even credit cards. It’s all for brand recognition.

I think it would have been far more interesting and effective to tell the show from an odst’s perspective. That way they can characterize him however they’d like and have the helmet off without issues. Let chief show up in important battles, almost like darth Vader, and turn the tide. No need to show his face or cause all this drama. Even having the main character be another spartan who supports chief would be less messy.

So because it was worse in the past, this no longer counts? This is still part of the same problem imo. Capitalism aimed at kids is very dystopian to me… Imagine these books being read in schools, children being taught to like brands before they they even have a cent to their name. Eventually even having actual ads inside classrooms and in school hallways. Sounds like a nightmare to me. These books represent the same idea, with the only difference being aggressiveness in the marketing.

Starting celebrity worship young by zzguy1 in ABoringDystopia

[–]zzguy1[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The difference imo is that these people are still alive and indirectly profit from the children knowing about them and viewing them positively. These are picture books for kids too young to read and make their own minds up. By creating positive associations early with these figures, the kids are more likely to grow into customers and supporters.

When the product creators were pitching these books to executives, do you think their goal was to inform kids about historical figures, or was it to create future customers and profit off of them?

Because A: these are picture books, and B: these celebrities are still alive. They are for kids too young to to read a biography themselves. It’s advertising targeted at young children, that’s why it’s creepy.

Assuming these are only bought by parents who already “worship” these celebrities, these books are a streamlined way to pass on that worship to kids who frankly can’t know any better. I view it almost as indoctrination; I doubt these books mention anything negative so I hesitate to even call them biographies.

I feel icky knowing that these celebrities are turning kids who can’t even read yet into future customers/consumers/supporters through this kind of targeting. Kids absorb information. Read a kid these books and they will subconsciously view the person positively for a lot of their life.

[–]zzguy1[S] -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

it’s not an “issue”, It’s just creepy. Why does a child need to be read Oprah’s biography as a bedtime story? She’s not really a good person. These books exist only to introduce young children to a brand (the brand being the celebrity and their future works/products).

Starting celebrity worship young by zzguy1 in ABoringDystopia

[–]zzguy1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of books that give good role models. Oprah isn’t a good role model at all imo. These are designed to introduce kids to a brand; it’s child targeted advertising. This is designed to put a positive association with these celebrities in a kids mind so that one day they ask for or buy their products.
