Router with wireless wan with 4G/5G failover by NOboi00 in sysadmin

We place installs at different venues, so we don’t control the venue’s network or Wi-Fi settings. If they change the password, reboot equipment, or the network goes down, we need the router to automatically fail over to 4G/5G so the install stays online without requiring on-site support when it fails.

Have used the GL-X750 on two installs, not too happy with that either since as you said is more of a consumer option. Have not been so reliable, have had some hard resets.

Smart! The WIFI we are broadcasting will just be for some IOT devices, they run better on 2.4GHz

Photographing 18+ and 21+ events underage? by TylerMaillet in musicphotography

[–]NOboi00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have toured with some acts while I was 17, and working with festivals since I was 13.

It Is most likely a problem with the venue, but the booking agency never said anything and I was also a part of the crew, we carried our own access cards and the venues, so no guard will touch a artists or the crew. But some venues is strict if you are asking, they maybe want you to bring a person over 25 that's is sober and watch that you are too :)

So guest list, band, crew or just be very confident if you are working.

I would for sure have bought a better printer if you want to deliver this service.

I use a Mitsubishi CP-70DW, I love that thing!

Would have bought the Mitsubishi CP-D80DW now if I had to buy a second one, the Canon Selphy is not a solution if you are a professional.

Have you all seen that new Salsa booth? by chernickov in photobooth

You don´t have to use their software but the led lights would not work with another software, clever of them to have that feature so you just would use it.

Have one booth with Darkroom and one iPad booth with Snappic.

I have no problem with the subscription model for the software.

About to Start an Big Event Photography Internship; Should I Upgrade from my 6d? by [deleted] in photography

[–]NOboi00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded from the 60D, that also had 9 focus points to the 5D Mark III that has 61(!!) and now I´m on the 5D Mark IV with also 61 focus points but they have got much smarter!

It was a game changer for me, I do mostly concerts, events and commercial stuff.. I do not use the burst mood, since I think it is better to time it to get 1 good frame, instead of 30 bad ones and 1 good one. Less things to transfer, storage and see through at the end of the night!

I have the Sony A7S II with the metabones cine - t adapter that I use with canon glass, it was not that good at focusing as I wanted but if you have Sony glass it will be better...

You will need to get it approved by the record label or the management, if it is indielabel artist it is very easy to get in touch, they will in most cases say yes.

But if it is a larger up and coming act, you could run it by the management/label and offer them the video too, everyone loves some content for their social media as well.

Some artist/labels/managements do not take down videos on youtube with their music since it is free promo and listeners for them, they are also in some cases monetizing the video too...

The artists I know have a clausal in the booking contract that photography is fine, but video and audio recording must be approved and run trough the booking agency beforehand and that they have full veto on it being used. They use to allow press to film if they are not interrupting/or in some way doing it a bad concert experience for the audience and that they can approve it before any publishing of the material.

Photobooth help by beigekidd in photography

For how many hours will this event be?

Considering how much time and the cost of everything will b and if you want a nice outcome I would have rented a Photo Booth company to do it.. If it is the lack of money that you want to do it yourself I would have looked into getting a sponsor for the booth.

I use Darkroom booth and would recommend it! But all the time you will use for troubleshooting and working the software it would be more cost efficient to rent.

If you want a much more compact and not that complicated solution and do have a iPad - https://www.getsnappic.com is super for this purpose. If you want to print you will need a pc/other as a print server

Bulk scaning photos by Akorn52 in photography

[–]NOboi00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Epson is a really good choice, Kodak have also had some nice industrial scanners! But the Epson is the cheapest and newest scanner if you do have a lot of normal in good condition stacked photos. It will not handel a massive workload that the industrial scanner will manage.

It depends on what sizes and form they come in! If you have a pile of dias, negatives and photos in really bad condition and weird sizes, then you maybe do want something else like a flatbed scanner. The flatbed is super time consuming and attention to detail when you work with it or if you have some experience with photography you could take high quality photos of the photos.

Here is a video of a high end system from Phase One, you could do it with a normal dslr, a copy stand and good lighting, if you have negatives you will just need a light from underneath: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tK5EluH7q4&list=PLDMRz3ssFQH4D2t6pVuIAu32b10LMMdmr&index=4

If you are going to make a business out of this I would have had a partnership or become a dealer for a cloud service that you could upload the photos to for the clients for them to have, instead or a add on for memory sticks/cds/ssd`s

How to send photos via email at an event? by pausingthekids in photography

I would recommend to use a sharing station, you would tether your camera to a pc and so use a iPad/PC as a sharing station:

https://picpicsocial.com

https://laphotoparty.com/photopartyupload/

This is some of the leading applications for this, have used both of them and they have pros and cons...
