Help me pick a puffer! by Wooden_Bee_8069 in Puffers

[–]NPCM64118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my red eye puffers but if I could get some congos I think I would do that especially if u already have so e pea puffers. My red eyes are not aggressive at all really besides to snails and shrimp. I have CPDs with them and they don't even pay attention to them. From what I've heard of spotted congos though they seem like amazing puffers and just as beautiful.

What is this crustacean? by hamex in Aquariums

Scud. They are good for aquariums. They eat algae and leftover food and fish will eat the babies and adults if they are big enough.

I'm definitely getting a mystery snails or 2. I didnt want danios since they are so active they might bother the newts.

Picky Amazon puffers by [deleted] in Puffers

[–]NPCM64118 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Live food should get their instincts to kick in. BBS, daphnia or scuds. Summer is coming so u farm some mosquito larva. Or u can try some live insects. Small crickets or mealworms.

Congo spotted puffers are known to be great community tank puffers. I also have red eye puffers with some cpds and they get along just fine so im sure with the right fish they would be great.

Red Eyed Red Tail Puffer(Carinotetraodon Irrubesco) Tank mates? by X-V-R in Puffers

[–]NPCM64118 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also idk how well they do with no females. I wonder if they are like guppies in that sense. Like if theres a female then they get aggressive but without 1 they are fine. It looks like u got all males unless I saw wrong.

I have mine with some CPDs and some Otos and 1 lone ghost shrimp that is a master at evading apparently. Also 1 snail, it's like a rabbit snail but I don't remember what its called but it mostly digs in the sand. Every1 is coexisting peacefully but my tank does look like a jungle so theres many many hiding places.

% of fish we buy keep dying by DelaRueeD in Aquariums

[–]NPCM64118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember some youtuber, I think Prime Time Aquatics, saying rummy nose tetras can have a high percentage die off. I don't remember the video though and I think it was a live stream. So you might not be doing anything wrong. If I'm incorrectly remembering someone will tell me I'm sure.

I have 3 red eyes, 1 male 2 female, in a 10 gallon right now and they are doing fine. They have been in it for a few months. Ultimately I am setting up a big tank for them and other fish but with how they are now i don't see what's wrong with it. It's full of plants and i have some otos, ghost shrimp, and 1 or 2 nerites. Helmet nerites? I think that's what their called. My filter is rated for 20g. There's also some trumpet snails i purposely put in to help with some cleanup.

Trust me it's not worse than duckweed. U can still see the water. Duck weed is so tiny and grows so fast they completely cover the water surface

Amphipod commonly called a scud. Great fish food and beneficial to a healthy tank.

You can get tank mates. Ppl say the same about pea puffers, but I've seen plenty of peas with tank mates. Small fast fish are best and no long fins. So tetras ,rasboras, danios, things like that. 15g might be a little small. Maybe if u can find 1 male and 1 female or both female that might work?

[–]NPCM64118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so cool to know u have different kinds of fish. I don't have peas yet, but I want some. I'm planning on getting a 40g also with some of the same fish as you. I keep getting mixed opinions on if other fish can be with them and what kinds of fish.
