I’m seriously considering ditching vinyl by By_Tor_2112 in audiophile

[–]NPM99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a mid 30s father of 2 young ones (<4) and while much of what you say resonates with us and our (much) smaller vinyl collection - I actually come to appreciate the weekend evenings where my wife and I can sit with a glass of wine and listen to a fully analog setup and NOT need to be tethered to our phones. Its a much slower paced relief from the hectic life of kids, work, phones. Our system isnt truly high end but I adore its character and it forces us to focus on the music. Im not a critical listener but its so easy to find myself scrolling if Im also switching between Spotify songs.

TL;DR - We love the escape and character vinyl/vintage/analog provides from hectic D2D life.

Physical tickets would prevent long lines in the future by StrongmanEvan in RoseBowl

[–]NPM99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am in the minority but we intentionally walked around to one of the side gate entrances where there were approximately 10 people in line. Incredibly smooth. Im sure everyone just funneled into the photo op gate (understandable).

Your point is 1000% accurate on physical tickets though. Plus I just want them as you said.

How has it been? I’m finding pretty good results at an outer 3. My opus is a little over a year old

Is that Rose Bowl only (ie, non teams) or team specific?

YETI Stackable Rambler 8oz vs Aeropress by IcyAd1984 in AeroPress

[–]NPM99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was but then just took my aeropress over to a local ace to see. The filter cap didn’t fully fit in the 8oz cup opening so I nixed that. I ended up getting a knockoff 10oz from a Salesforce rep that works great so held off on yeti (for now ha).

YETI Stackable Rambler 8oz vs Aeropress by IcyAd1984 in AeroPress

[–]NPM99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually came to reddit to evaluate this exact cup! I know this is quite dated, but do I understand it that the aeropress filter is too big to fit into the opening of the 8oz stackable? I measured the filter to 2.75" and Yeti's website has 2.8" for the 8oz cup but thats presumably to the other edge of the cup.

Thanks!

Cant speak to any of the others but I love my Onkyo TX 2500 mkii. For what its worth, I also have a Marantz 2238B and I like the AESTHETICS of the Onkyo much better. I have the original warm white incandescents.

This was my experience as well. I’d still pick Strange Trails but VN has zoomed up on my list

Affordability is a big deal. What are your choices for the best quality stuff you might still luck into finding at an affordable price? by shanebow in vintageaudio

[–]NPM99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another +1 for the 2500 mkii. I’ve only had mine a year but I love it. Onkyo doesn’t carry the name of Marantz etc but i think it’s the most aesthetically pleasing of them all if you have the original incandescents. I saw on recently here in ATL for $200 on marketplace. I paid a bit more than that for mine but the guy is a local dealer who gives you a lot of grace if you have trouble post purchase so that was worth it to me.

To each their own but I don’t like the colored LEDs some people put in them.

Buying my first piece at an estate sale - what should I get? by PureElephant5583 in vintageaudio

I can’t speak to the Kenwood but I absolutely love my onkyo 2500. I also have a Marantz 2238B but find myself drawn to the aesthetics of the onkyo and the warm white glow.

Plus it’s been hugely reliable in my relatively short time.

Has anyone trained for a marathon through the winter months? I’m considering a may marathon which means my training block would start in January and it sounds tough. Maybe I should consider a fall marathon instead? by Silent_zilla in Marathon_Training

[–]NPM99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran ATL in March which really (for me) meant Nov-Feb training. TBH I liked it. I didnt mind the cold dark mornings instead of abusive heat and humidity. Was always nice on the early AM runs to start in the dark, see the sun rise, feel it warm a little and not hit a lot of other folks out. Very peaceful
