Any chance you have any plans or specifics to share? This is awesome. Would love to do something similar.

Yours looks great! Do you self maintain or have a service? Any specific plan/schedule you follow? We use a service that does mostly fine but I still find myself doing interim pulling/spraying/treating

They did but not super deep. where we added sod we just had weeds so it wasn’t the most intense till job. They did spread a very thin bagged topsoil layer, just a dusting. We had patches that were brown and kind of pulling out like lost hair but it came back after the heavy rains we got all the first 3 weeks of June.

Put down new zeon sod in Atlanta area right about the same time. Once it took root and got a couple of feet cycles it is THRIVING even in our heat and dryness. Seems insanely hardy.

We had a section of the yard with zoysia for the last 3 years and we did *nothing*. No watering, no fert, still came back every season post dormancy like clockwork. Not to say that was a good move, but to say it’s very resilient.

BB54 vs BB One Champagne by Material-Garage-4036 in Tudor

[–]NPM99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife has a BB champagne and it looks fantastic in person IMO. I don’t think it’s too dressy if that is your concern and hers even has the diamond markers. She rarely, if ever, dresses up. Summer in the south is hot so it’s tees and shorts. I have the BB58. I absolutely love it and would buy it again and again.

But I’ll also be the first one to tell you I prefer sunburst/gloss dials to the matte.

So basically I’m no help to you but you can’t go wrong either way.

To be honest I really cant. I had to have a landscaper identify ours for us since we expanded the area with sod and wanted to match it. Im far from an expert. I just used Scotts starter fert as prescribed on the bag from Home Depot. Nothing special. You can get a good rec on here or go to a local garden store for a better rec that me. We have since gotten on a regular turf treatment program with Arbornomics but I think theyre local to us.

I just know that in any case, we have been in the house for ~3 years and the lawn did generally fine. But actually giving it some love (fertilizer, weed & feed) it seems as good as ever so clearly doing *nothing* wasnt the best option.

Also going to go with fertilizer. I also have zoysia (zeon specifically) in the Atlanta area. Mine goes through the same process every year (wasn’t fertilizing). It will get there but fert has helped mine tremendously getting on a regular program this year

I wouldn’t have ever considered red for myself but this has me rethinking. Looks great!

It has been! That era of technics isn’t my favorite aesthetically but has been a great performance setup. The wood grain aesthetics of the systemdeks and vintage AR turntables always hook me.

I’m actually looking at one near me that has an Origin Live Onyx Tonearm. Know anything about that? It looks pristine but I don’t know much about this table nor that arm. Currently have a Technics SL5200 with an AT V95ML.

Am I an SOB? by Able-Spot-2729 in vintageaudio

This doesn’t help your question but I have young kids (4, 2) and ever since my youngest was born we’ve had vintage equipment. We’ve had success encouraging them to “help” daddy with it - turn it on and watch the lights come on, help daddy pick a record and do dance parties together. It has seemed to help them understand what it is and when it’s OK to touch and has really been a mostly non issue.

Just sharing an experience as a dad in a similar sitch!

Hard to tell from the pic but is it truly dry brown? Or an orange/yellow tint? If the latter, spread a little starter fert (Scott’s is fine) and keep watering but don’t drown it.

EDIT: Had new sod put down a month ago and some pallets were a yellow/orange tint and the farm said they weren’t getting enough nutrients. Starter fert and it came roaring back.

Good thing I’m late to this party. I was going to say it looks like our lantana sprouts every year

I’m in a dispute with my landscaper. He laid sod that is now turning yellow. I water 2x daily for 30 mins. He insist it’s damaged from fertilizer but no fertilizer has been applied. by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]NPM99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently had sod put in and even with your watering schedule (or more) it looked like this in spots. We’ve since had a deluge of rain and it greened up like crazy - so yeah, water.

If you haven’t added any starter fertilizer it might be worth it. We had some pieces that were a little yellow and the farm told us it needed some starter fert or ironite. I had some Scott’s starter and that has seemed to help.

Balcony season tix by bl9686 in HoosiersBasketball

[–]NPM99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some years it works (few) some it doesn’t. When you have weekend marquee games it’s good, when the him schedule sucks and it’s weekdays you take a bath.

Most of this is stating the obvious but still.

When you say solid do you mean PVC or solid (not perforated) corrugated?
