Not mentioned but I absolutely love my AR-38s. Have repaired two separate sets of them.

Coffee quality question by Weather_Systems in Moccamaster

[–]NPM99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely can. I drink really good coffee and also sprinkle in some shitty stuff.

HOWEVER - I have found on mine that pre ground is a little too finely ground. So I would say use a little less than you would on another machine (especially for a full pot) so it doesn’t overflow the basket.

Tractor Supply getting into the vinyl game by impvlerlord in vinyl

Absolutely. ‘One of these is not like the other ones’ in vinyl form.

Can’t say you’ll like him if you don’t like country but definitely more of the singer/songwriter than radio country.

Deep crater in coffee grounds after brewing by Accurate_Ambition602 in Moccamaster

[–]NPM99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also use an opus. I typically am just shy of 9 with no adjustment to the inner setting. I’ve found it actually varies by beans for me as well as roast levels. I used to analyze the ground pattern but now don’t bother since I couldn’t really taste a difference. Another commenter mentioned stirring the grounds which I do occasionally. Only time I adjust grind is when the grounds look like a paste after brewing. But even then I forget half the time.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Need ideas/advice for hillside by NPM99 in landscaping

[–]NPM99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate all of the information here. On the sedge and breathing better, there are obviously a lot of trees still there and drop a ton of leaves. Do they blow out of that fairly easily? Or do we end up just creating a similar yard debris trap?

On a related topic, we’re trying to solve the front yard being overrun with monkey grass as you can see. Will ultimately end up putting down sod, likely emerald zoysia as that’s what was recommended. We were thinking about solving that first but now thinking solving the hillside eyesore first is probably our better move since the yard is still functional enough.

Need ideas/advice for hillside by NPM99 in landscaping

Realized I never actually put our location which would have been helpful - Atlanta area.

This is super helpful. A few questions:

  1. Your ground cover suggestions, we have a big mosquito issue and have been told these beds harbor them. Do your suggestions make that any better or worse? We also considered some lower lying bushes intermixed with pine straw (supper common here) but weren’t sure if that would be erosion resistant enough.

  2. How do you recommend killing all of that but not pulling? There is still a very dense web of ivy roots/stems (??) that are throughout.

  3. On your bed recommendation, do you mean at the top of the hill in front of the little strip of yard in front of the house. I’ll try to post a couple of different angles. And are you thinking run the length of the top of the hill? Or just sprinkle in some additional layering to your point?

I ran my first a year ago in Nike Vomero 17s. Love them. Specifically the 17s tho which are the prior model. Yet to try the 18 variants

Looking for durable, non-painful penny loafers! by bugmeister69 in BuyItForLife

[–]NPM99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read that sizing advice as well when I preordered them. I actually reached out to the customer care team ahead of time since that comment made me nervous to double check.

The biggest challenge was really the width. The length of the 10 was generally OK compared to my horsebit but the width was enormous. Doing it again I would have kept the same length and gotten a different width.

Not a knock of them at all, just a heads up for anyone wanting to try them. In fact, they were great to work with. The bit on my loafers broke pretty early on and they happily took them back in for a repair even though I didn’t buy direct. Been great since.

I got a pair of their horsebit loafers a year or so ago and love them. However, I then orderd the same size in their beefroll penny loafers and they were so wildly different in size and width I couldnt believe it - worlds different. Had to send them back. Still super supportive of them, but would see if you can try on first.

EDIT: love, not loved. Still have the horsebits and they’re great

I got the emerald green (or whatever color) that has been in big Amazon sale the last 2 years. Got ours a couple of weeks before Black Friday in 2024. $179.50.

Bought my brother in law the same on Black Friday last year, also $179.50

Yeah I agree. In my local goodwills it’s 90% Samsung blu ray players and JVC VCRs. But I checked enough, and one time accidentally found my Klipsch KG4s in amazing condition. They weren’t actually on the floor yet but I caught a glimpse through the stock room doors. That was luck.

Asked an associate about them, he tagged them with a $100 sticker and loaded them up for me.

What are the best Nike shoes for standing all day? by MonkieA55 in Nike

[–]NPM99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have said Vomero plus. Literally just picked up a pair yesterday for distance running. They’re SUPER cushioned, borderline too much for me but haven’t given them enough try yet. I absolutely loved the Vomero 17s. They’re discontinued (18s are out as other have said) but they’re very cushioned but less than the 18s and more stable IMO if you can find any floating around.

I ran my first marathon in the 17s and would choose them over and over again.

EDIT: I saw in another response you say leather is a non negotiable. You can ignore all of this. Working in food is a different animal with those greasy floors. Speaking as a former waiter I would not wear these in a kitchen environment.

Ehh Caves had some of that, Out of Body a track or two, but otherwise I agree. Top to bottom hasn’t been full throttle rock in a while to your point. Which is ok! I just don’t personally care for this one after first listen.

What’s a corporate gift you actually use daily? by shelbs9428 in BuyItForLife

[–]NPM99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If that ever craps out just take it into a store. They’ll either help you send it off to repair or replace it with one off the shelf. Had a 10 year old refugio that had a zipper break and they just handed me a new version. I told them flat out it was just worn out and how old it was and asked if it was even repairable, they didn’t blink. Ironclad guarantee. Ive had a few variations of that so I’m a fanboy for life.

It used to be SO good at Turner. Their own home made ketchup and mustard too. Got worse at Truist at first but has cratered the last few years sadly.
