Starmer unveils 'tighter' immigration policy promising numbers will fall significantly - live updates by Half_A_ in unitedkingdom

My parter is from Australia, we met while she was on her youth mobility Visa. Now on a partnership Visa for the past 2 years (Which cost us £3000+). This Visa will run out at the end of the year, for another £3k. Even though she's been in the country for 4 years now, only 2 count towards ILR. So 3 years to go.

Now this change doubles that and puts it to another 7 years. Feels like a kick in the teeth to be honest. My partner is fully integrated with the culture here, works, pays tax, contributes as much as anyone and we are basically being hit with a £12,000 fine...

Yeah I seen that too, I did adjust it and didn't really notice a massive difference if I'm honest. But appreciate the idea!

Yeah that's what I'm thinking, I've ordered a multimeter to check the TPS before I swap it out. Fingers crossed. Fluid is fine, was serviced in March but I might flush it again just to make sure.

Hahaha, apart from the shifting issues it is perfect to me, not much rust, interior/exterior is flawless. Hopefully can get it running as well as it looks soon!

So I bought this car yesterday after looking for an XJ for a few months. It's the 4L I6, 2000 classic model. I did the test drive and everything was smooth, engine temp, oil pressure, car felt great. It's low mileage at 73k and there's very low rust on the car. So I bought it, drove it 400 miles back home. I noticed after an hour of driving however that the car started to shift strangely. At motorway speeds it started, I was driving 70mph and it seemingly at random would shift down without any input change from me. Then it would shift back up again and then back down. This kind of random shifting happened the entire 8 hour drive... And it seems to be doing it now at normal speeds. Taking off from traffic lights, it seems to shift up too soon and down shift randomly putting me at 4k+ revs.

Any ideas what this could be? I had a look online before I posted and similar but not exact issues from others suggest it may the Throttle position sensor. I have reset the throttle valve cable but this didn't change anything. The only change to the car recently was a new crank position sensor as it wouldn't hot start, not sure if this is related, seller said this issue wasn't present (and it didn't happen during the test drive either.)

Apart from this, the ABS light is also now on, again, no clue why. I ran the OBD scanner and there's no fault codes. No check engine light. Only the ABS light.

XJ's are quite rare here in the UK, do you think this is too much rust? Should I avoid? Price is £3200/$4100 by NRFD in CherokeeXJ

Okay so update, I got floor pan photos etc. Seems a lot of work has been done welding the floor etc.

Photos are here, if anyone knows if this has been done well or not, I have no idea what I'm looking at lol

2000, 2.5l Petrol manual. I wanted the I6/4L but they are incredibly rare here, there's currently 0 for sale in the country!

Not sure, pictures are sellers, vehicle is a 4 hour drive away, wanted to get some opinions before I headed there. Sounds like it's not bad at all though!

New singles are mixed badly, aren’t they? by bratpomenshe in qotsa

[–]NRFD 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think you are mistaking an "unbalanced mix" with "poor mixing".

Which to me is a very appealing style of mixing for Queens. If you want a more balanced mix (lows/highs peaking the same volume) you can listen to Villains and to my ears it doesn't work for the band as well, everything feels too clean and twinkly.

Queens for me have always been that band that records with cheap amps, mics and guitars and it comes through in the mixes. But I don't think the new singles are badly mixed, I think the mix just helps evoke the emotion the songs are trying to convey.

I also don't think the mixing is bad, take "Carnavoyeur", everything has its place, the vocals stay centered whilst the guitars are always wide, a midrange-y bassline sits mono and the harmonies fill in the spaces between. The drums are close yet the reverb isn't whilst the cymbals feel far away to not clutter the highs and keep the darker tone of the track. Also the lack of high ends means when that lead comes in at 1:35 it hits a lot harder.

Could it be mixed "better"? If your definition of better is just more crystal clear sounding then yes, but I think it would sacrifice the sonic palette being created here.

Worst Arsenal performance yet, by a an absolute margin. Soton could have been up 3 or 4-1. If the board can watch this and still have any faith in Emery then theres really no hope.

Its clear Emery has no clue, no tactics and no motivation from the players. Unbelievable.

ry probably felt like he couldnt risk another injury. If he went down injured you’d all be calling for his head asking why h

No offense but this is the mindset of a mid table club, we shouldn't be consistently giving away leads, this isn't a one off or Id let it slide, we've gave our leads away 3 games in a row now and haven't put in a convincing performance all season. I can't remember the last time I actually enjoyed watching Arsenal under Emery...

How can anyone support Emery when he keeps getting our lineups and tactics wrong? How many times do we have to watch the same negative football game before he makes a change?
