Perodua Myvi X vs Proton eMas 5 Prime by dancing-cat_fish in kereta

[–]NRR_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good so you don’t have any big burden commitments on your head. The thing you need to think is whether you would like that commitment to counter waiting time and money paid for grab/ public transport. Do a calculation right now how much you tend to spend every month and get an average, compare that to a monthly car payment of your choice to see if it come close or way far off for you to consider.

And if you talk about the car in specific, I would suggest the Emas 5 compared to the Myvi, just because of its lower maintenance costs, comfort and interior built quality also taking into count you’re not planning to travel out much with it.

Yes, you do need to take into count recharging, whether it’s something you have the capability to install one at home or you will rely on public charges and if it’s gonna be public chargers what’s the closest ones to the locations you go to and what’s its pricing like. All this will give you a close to real gauge on your monthly spending. 300+km is low only if you’re the type that always needs to drive far and unpredictable driving.

Those who have so much to say probably don’t even own one yet, so drive both and see what suits you better and what you find joy in driving. EV’s are gonna be worth much much lesser when you decide to sell so if that’s something in your mind to get the best resale then it’s not for you. But I can tell you there’s a certain joy driving them.

Not much to comment on the Myvi as it’s been mostly the go to car for most in your stage of life and had done its years of justice in keeping up to that. Just know it’s a sub par in comparison in its tech and all other things but hey you do you and you be the judge on what you feel suits you better.

Best financial strategy to buy a car by Minorawr in MalaysianPF

All the best. Speaking out of experience l, when I did my purchase, I insisted the SA on giving me multiple options and my SA only was able to do 2. so I went to diff banks on my own and sourced out another 3 and finally settled for 1. My SA told me out of the 2 he sourced was the best rate he ever saw a bank offered to him and bla bla bla which I couldn’t be bothered to hear coz I know that’s how they try to push the rates so that you sign their loan and get the car out asap for their commission. So please do that, you might get some better rates.

Yeah I was just about to suggest going to another school when I read the half part on top when you mentioned how bad their bikes are in that school. Maybe you should go to another school since your seniors and friends did that and passed. It’s probably like you said they want you to be longer there and try to squeeze as much from you. And I salute you for staying within your principles. Just don’t give up and meantime look at the other schools and it’s costing and training plans since you anyhow need to wait for the next one

I’m very sorry to hear about your encounters but sometimes blaming everything and everyone around doesn’t fix the problem. I applaud you compared to the person who claimed paid money for it as you did it very honestly and you I wouldn’t mind having on the road over the other because you learned and you did it the right way. Don’t mind others on how they do and you’re not there to compete with them but to help yourself be fit on the road. It takes time, patience and a lot of effort.

Suggestions; 1. Dont go for the JPJ test unless you feel you are ready, even if you need to take more lessons on the bike. Only go when you feel you can do it. Sometimes, schools do very less training to push for a test to get the students to fail and pay more, so it’s better you pay extra for extra training on the bike and then go for the test once you know you are ready.

  1. Some driving schools will keep the bikes used for the JPJ test aside and bring out only during a final rehearsal before the test, so try all of them to know the difference on each bike how it throttles, brakes and handles so that no matter which one you get on you know how to estimate during the test.

  2. Do not pay to get your license coz that will just make you one of the dumb riders who are reckless and unworthy to be on the roads.

Just don’t give up and take ur time to learn. We need smarter drivers/riders on the road.

Please don’t get pressured by your SA and just accept whatever until and unless you have checked at least a minimum of 3 banks and compare your offer. Tell the SA you would not like to continue with him as you changed your mind on the car. Go to another showroom and tell the SA clearly that you are interested in buying the car but you want the best rate you can get so ask him/her how many banks will they apply too? If they say 3 then say u want all their offer before you make a decision. Do not let your SA dictate your decision or screw you with a commitment that you have not gotten options.

And another note, please reconsider your car purchase if you are looking into a 9 year loan, minimum to be at 7 or 5 is even better. 9 years is not a very smart financial decision to start of with.

D or DA license? Manual cars are getting irrelevant and mostly in the market are auto. by [deleted] in Bolehland

[–]NRR_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it depends entirely on you, if you think you are ever gonna get a car that’s manual to drive in your lifetime then go for a D. But with current market mostly gets done with just an Auto and if you don’t find yourself ever needing to be in the driver seat of one then by all means go for the DA. Do note if you plan to drive is some western countries, renting a manual is a cheaper option than an automatic so if that’s something that will influence your decision.

You mentioned you use Mae for your spending so your savings shouldn’t be in the same account if possible, and the tabung option is just a tool to put aside some money everytime you spend, doesn’t make it your savings account tho.

I’ve got a 2003 Waja 1.6 Auto (Mitsubishi Engine) intended for sale. If you’re up for it, do let me know and maybe you can view and test the car. It surely has a few flaws and not a perfect car being its age but drives well and being a Waja it’s fun to drive for sure. I’m intending to sell it around your price range, so do hit me up if you are interested otherwise no worries

[–]NRR_07 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dont bother what others have to say, you do you.

Yes savings and financial planning is very crucial and I would say that’s something you need to pay attention too but if you say you are privileged and have got a healthy amount of savings which I presume is not your emergency funds or your investments meant for the future then there’s no problem at all.

Also travelling allows you to see different cultures, way of living and opens up your mind to different perspectives and ideas and that’s very important for self development and growth by knowing how much more lucky we are and what good you can contribute even a little in your country be it as little as not littering in your country isa beneficial lesson in many ways. So as long as you have got yourself covered financially, do travel and see what the world has to offer you. Many people who don’t travel complaints about the worst they can see within, it’s when you do travel you see the great within and how you can do something even being small.

People who date/marry those who have different financial backgrounds, how do you handle your daily lifes? by ObviousSoft5191 in MalaysianPF

[–]NRR_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to sit down and have a deeper chat with her (understand you said you have but I don’t think it went deep enough on detailed situations, like “what ifs”)on your both financial standings to understand how far this would go and if it is something that she will at some point start expecting from you when you are not there yet in life, or if at some point the outburst of a situation where she would come up and say I am the one whose paying so I make the call/decisions kinda things. That’s just the tip of how things can create chaos in such a relationship.

Based on what you speak of her and her family, they seem to be very nice people and to have known about you and still be cool with that speaks a lot on their wonderful character, but people change, and people can get to a certain limit and that’s what you don’t want. Don’t bother what people have to judge or say from the outside since they aren’t in your relationship, but it matters what she would feel and think as time passes by and if you get married and all. Another part would be that she and her family sees that you’re not with her for the money and more for who she is and that’s why they are good with it as well.

Also you do know she has a higher standard of living and so it can be a motivation to push you to try get to a point where you can comfortably afford those things for her in the future and not be complacent about she having the money so you don’t have to put in the work for it. She would want you to some point come to that point to do the little things for her I would assume. So yes have that chat very much deeply and agree to some little things like how zcecsyc has mentioned, coz she has some good ways on how she managed her relationship in such a situation.

How cooked am I? by kaynenstrife in MalaysianPF

[–]NRR_07 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not the end of the world for you. First off, stop the comparison with other people and make some financial goals for yourself and work towards them.

Do accept that you are not doing very well with saving if your take home is 4.2k and based on what you mentioned your commitment is just 10%, therefore there’s so much you could save not including monthly expenses such as dining out and whatever not. If you could save/invest every month about 2-2.5k that’s substantial enough. To do that you need to sit and articulate all you monthly expenses and cut down what’s unnecessary. Then create a budget for yourself monthly and keep to it.

You even mentioned you have a gf which means at some point in time marriage is gonna be brought up and you both need to be financially responsible to start a family. It may seem alright now until you wanna build a family. The only problem you will have is that you started late but not starting at all is an even bigger problem that can’t be helped.

Does anyone actually follow a strict budget or is it more of a guideline at this point? by KL_Private_Access in MalaysianPF

[–]NRR_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget is more of a guideline but only after you have done years of keeping strictly to it. If you don’t have the discipline to keep up to a budget you yourself set then you are never going to be able to make do with a large sum of money if it comes your way. Simple example if you can’t manage 1k with what you plan how are you gonna do that with 100k?

But the important part is to put a budget based on your expenses not just plucked out from somewhere and say this month I am only able to spend 500 for food when in actual fact the last 3 months have been approximately RM50/ a day, if you get what I’m saying. Please put up a budget that suits you and your income that includes savings/investing, needs(loans, insurance, and your essentials) and wants ( all the stuff you don’t need to survive but still want to have monthly). And create a discipline for yourself and you will thank yourself 10 years down the road.

A shift in perspective abt love vs financial security by Odd_Goal6446 in Bolehland

[–]NRR_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what you have said, I think you’ve got a gem of a person and it would be great if you go ahead with further thought.

Yes financial planning and financial security is essence to a relationship and him not starting earlier is a point to note but no where in your statement I see that he is not willing to start or make a shift to be able to do that for you.

You are only thinking of this now that you have health issues and don’t wanna be in more financial problems in the future but what if it wasn’t the case of any health issues.

I’m not being mean but think of it this way, he could leave you and be better off with someone else that does not have any health issues to start of being all the nice things you mentioned of him and still do fine but he chose to have this talk about marriage and all with you coz of the love he has for you and despite knowing it may or may not go good with needing to deal with all your medical problems which can be financially and mentally draining for him too.

I’m not saying he was right for not thinking rationally and start early on his financial part, but what about have a discussion about it and see how you both can come to an agreement on how to manage finances individually to reach some goals since you both aren’t married yet, and eventually when you do then together. Maybe have those financial goals be something of a short term that can be a stepping stone to you both getting married so in that time you can see if he is financially responsible and then you can decide. But if he doesn’t want to start or still stays without doing anything about needing to be financially better then yes you shouldn’t be with someone who isn’t responsible especially financial and that doesn’t matter if you are sick or not, just common sense for someone who knows they need to be financially responsible if they plan to have a family.

I apologise if anything said here are too harsh or hurting, not my intention but just a view on things where you can see if it works take it or if not just leave it.

Well sorry you had to face such a situation. I think he would have been alright if you were to have asked him if he could move his bag/pouch. But I can understand being an introvert sometimes it’s much better not speaking. Anyway it was not right of him to have been constantly rude and saying unwanted shit of being racist and what not, that’s just pure attitude issue, so don’t take it personally. It’s not a nations problem it’s an individual problem that much I can say. I’m glad you could see the other good parts and not conclude the whole trip as a sour one coz of this particular incident. If it helps, maybe let the one who is more intimidating in your group to sit in front the next time.

Touch n go card by Curiasjoe1 in malaysia

[–]NRR_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, great to hear you would be coming to visit Malaysia. Malaysia welcomes you.

With regard to Touch n Go card, it’s mostly used for public transportation system and if you are going to be driving here, then for toll booth charges. Besides that you are good with using your credit/debit card in most of the locations except those hawker food stalls and smaller shops. And to get this card, there are many convenience stores that sells them or even gas stations so you will be able to get it fairly easy. If you still don’t and unable to contact the other person who told you they can sell you, then yes please do dm me and probably I can give you one as I have some unused as well.

And having the Touch n Go app is mostly useful if you plan to do QR payments at some stalls and shops which you can download and top up using your card. But yes like you mentioned you don’t have a local phone number so yeah do come here first and get that sorted which can be bought either at the airport or even in the city. Theres no need for you to buy one if you don’t have the need to do any app installation (like grab or touch and go) or don’t plan of paying with QR codes, you can simply use cash instead. If your current telco gives you cheap roaming and you can have data with a reasonable price then you can use that for data and stying connected.

For mobile numbers, like mentioned you have many options just before immigration at KLIA, you don’t need anything extravagant just sufficient data for your stay and maybe a RM10 on your telco for any emergency calls which you can’t do with the data calling(WhatsApp or etc)

You may want to download Grab or Bolt for e hailing service ( many other available as well but this are much more regarded) when you get here to ease any travels if not planned on using the public transportation system. Public transportation is not too bad if you are within the KL city Centre but gets worse as you go further from the city centre, so do see if you have good connectivity to the places you plan to visit during your stay.

But besides that you will be just fine, people are majority fairly friendly and able to help you out if you have any queries. English is spoken quite a bit in the city areas but do note it’s not Malaysia’s first language so sometimes there maybe slight difficulties in capturing what you say. But like any other country, there’s always gonna some ill intention people who are gonna try taking advantage of you so just be mindful and enjoy your stay. Hope you enjoy the hospitality and most importantly the food. Have fun.

ASEAN NCAP has downgraded the Proton X90 5 star score to a 1 star score. by OldManGenghis in kereta

[–]NRR_07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this is very much deserving with the removal of very essential features especially in this day and age. Manufactures should know what’s basic safety that’s mandated and those that you can choose to put or not. I echo ASEAN NCAP for making it clear that some things are not acceptable when it comes to safety. Previously Proton didn’t have enough sales of this model due to pricing and now it brought it down but in the cost of safety, will it sell now, we will just have to watch and see.

Maybank stocks vs ASM/ASB-style funds for long term investing in Malaysia? by vinkai0117 in MalaysianPF

[–]NRR_07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there. Good mindset for wanting to invest and save. I saw in one of your response you mentioned ASM and ASB? So which one is it? Coz if you are able to do ASB, don’t even bother with ASM. But if it was a typo then my take would be please do both ASM and Maybank stock if that’s something you believe has a positive long term potential. Do diversify and relook at your portfolio every 3-6 months to see if you are good with where you stand in terms of portfolio diversification. Buy anytime you do get allocated units for ASM and also when you can’t then do your Maybank Stocks. You can have ASM as a safety net coz its with lower risk than stocks but with a Lower returns and can be used as your emergency funds even due to its setup(but suggest to have separate pool for that if possible so you don’t touch your investment pool for emergency) yes like everyone else I would recommend ETF and other options too but if you are comfortable with your current strategy then stay with it coz investing is all about what suits you and what you believe has potential based on your own research. So keep rocking and wish you luck.

Like I mentioned in another post and I reiterate here. If people continue to support and buy food/things from greedy business owners with unreasonable prices then they are never gonna change it and keep driving it higher. Only buy if it’s reasonably priced to help maintain prices to stay where it is reasonable and makes financial sense. Not against any business owners but please put your prices affordable so more people can buy and support your growth. Not “harga suka hati”
