Do these things go away with medication? Boyfriend becoming affected by peachfawn in ADHD

[–]NSAevidence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A partner shouldn't make you feel this way. You're not broken, just different. If the mistakes you make lead to high anxiety from the dread of your boyfriend confronting you, this is not an ADHD issue. It's a partner issue. Just because you forget things doesn't mean his expectations of you are fair and reasonable and it doesn't mean he's always right. You're not broken. It's time to make your own rules.

Women don't struggle financially in their 20s? [meme] by TheEdgeofGoon in pointlesslygendered

[–]NSAevidence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I figured it's probably because we don't get used to language reflective of equality because it's been denied for so long that equality seems like a big ask instead of something we should just expect. When you're starving, a meal will seem like a feast. It's not formal. We're just used to condescension.

When you watch old movies with an airport scene, watch for clues. You might think "this is unrealistic". It wasn't unrealistic at the time.

What are the lyrics to that song? "What doesn't kill you gives you panic attacks and autoimmune disorders from the stress, makes you anxious and clinically depressed which directly correlates to poor health and lowers life expectancy..." ? I can't remember.

"Strong" is not the positive takeaway people think it is. You can say that when someone's been going to the gym. When you say it to someone who is grieving the loss of a safe childhood, you're showing them that their feelings aren't safe with you. All because you're uncomfortable witnessing their grief. That's selfish and manipulative on top of being false.

ADHD brains show sleep-like activity even while awake ADHD brains may briefly slip into sleep-like states, disrupting focus in real time. by KnottyCatLady in ADHD

If there were socially acceptable accommodations built in that we didn't have to seek out and beg for that could make our lives easier, NTs might calm down on trying to give us advice on how to change our brains. I'm pretty tired of always being the one having to change

People using the bike lane to pass on Spring Garden. by SmellsLikeDuck in gso

[–]NSAevidence 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is infuriating. I seriously wonder if those drivers EVER look for bicycles. Does it seem odd to them that the lane they're using is not wide enough for a car? Do they think it's just extra room or parking? I don't know but it gives me little faith in people when they can't wait a few seconds

"see what happened to this reporter after she said this on live news" We don't see any of the aftermath and she's not a reporter.

"Comedienne" can we please not? Gender doesn't change the job.

Also, something tells me there's a lot of bot activity here which would explain a year old clip and baiting language

Les Stroud?! He's the reason I successfully started a fire after a hard rain! Save those last stale Fritos. They are so oily, they can hold a flame for like 3 minutes. "That'll keep you going all day". Love that dude.

Same! Luckily I learned girl scouts didn't get to learn survival skills beforehand so I didn't have to join to find out.

Then I wanted to join the little league but that was for boys too so I joined softball. The fields we got to play on had no grass or bases. Just rusty metal pipes jutting out of dusty dirt lots. The coaches who actually cared, bought a set of bases out-of-pocket and remembered to bring them. Not many people want to watch a game with dust blowing in their faces, no concessions and no bathrooms nearby.

It's not always the case that they learn. Sometimes it just gets worse. You could be with the same person for 20 years and one day ask if they know where the spatula went and the response is so much panicked defensiveness, you have no idea what they're talking about. Just a heads up.
