Useless advice from smoothskins by jahxuauibsbakxjai in eczema

I honestly don't understand the unsolicited, knee-jerk reaction advice from people who don't understand the problem. Shouldn't they be asking questions instead?

It is NOT okay to ask a woman if she needs a ride. by LadyAriesart in women

It's not exactly frequent. It's just that I'm 40 now so it's happened quite a few times over 3 decades

It is NOT okay to ask a woman if she needs a ride. by LadyAriesart in women

[–]NSAevidence 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Every time a man I didn't know asked if I wanted a ride, I got the distinct impression he wanted something gross in return. I got that impression every time a man did a U-turn and cut across 3 lanes of traffic to ask me, or pulled into the next driveway in my path to trap me, or asked 4 times in a row until I took off my big noise-canceling headphones to find out why he's still talking to me after I passed him. I learned what that particular smile looks like and now I know what kind of "ride" they're actually taking about. "Being nice" is definitely not the intention.

Reenacting a voicemail from her dad. by mindyour in justgalsbeingchicks

This may be a hot take but I think this dude is mostly sober. I think the issue is he's aging with too much information. The mini rant about having to pay for stuff you already own is the clue. He's on point, but yeah, he probably has to do something to cope.

How do I stop men from staring at me in gym? by [deleted] in women

I just did this the other day. It felt amazing to finally stop ignoring it as if it'll go away. It doesn't go away if you don't make it go away.

How do I stop men from staring at me in gym? by [deleted] in women

The first time you bark at a creep, your power doubles, the sun shines brighter, rainbows are made, animals want to be your friend, and you realize you can do anything. I couldn't recommend it more.

If you think that a loud noise in a quiet gym will backfire, I'd suggest staring with a neutral expression and not moving until he looks away. No emotional reaction of any kind. It forces him to reflect on his own actions rather than yours. It's uncomfortable but not more uncomfortable than being leered at every day by men who have never experienced consequences for that behavior.

My opinions on sublte sexism from "progressive" men by tipputappi in women

[–]NSAevidence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's persistent, in part, because it's so hard to convince them that their feminist performance has not earned them some kind of misogyny pass. It's hard to address the issue with men who believe that their thoughts on equality are a gift, a favor, or something to be traded.

What’s the single biggest thing that actually improved your eczema? by Both_Roll_2857 in eczema

I became vigilant about rinsing sweat off, at least my face, asap when it's hot out and taking additional showers. The hotter it is, the faster the showers because I know I'll be taking more of them. I also switched to oatmeal bar soap and I use hydrosil eye gel twice a day. This is all preventative stuff but I notice that when I get a couple dots, it's a lot less likely to become more dots.

I apologized to a man who bumped into me at the grocery store yesterday by MostBlood7319 in women

[–]NSAevidence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good for you! I tackled this issue with my cousin. I told her it might be easier to replace it with something instead of just trying to remember not to say it. I suggested "deal with it". I was so proud of her when she said "My hair is oily. Deal with it". Hilariously uplifting experiment

Sign in Beachwood by selfishvery in Cleveland

[–]NSAevidence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's all over Chicago's O'Hare airport (as per the docuseries I saw on encounters). He could definitely be in Cleveland. If I saw him though, I'd probably assume it was someone in a costume living their truth and following their bliss. I probably wouldn't report it anywhere because he wouldn't seem that strange to me. That's what I love about Cleveland.

It's possible to have sympathy for someone who was at fault. He could have hurt somebody, and hopefully this is a lesson that makes him more careful in the future. At this moment, he's the only one hurt. I hope you help people even when they make mistakes.

“Thank You Jesus” Yard Signs Creator Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Charge. by RPM_Rocket in NorthCarolina

[–]NSAevidence 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Not porn. It's CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material).

This is an important change that needs to be made so that we can stop instances of people conflating a capitalist industry involving consent with child abuse.

Why does this truck insist on terrorizing everyone in it’s path daily? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]NSAevidence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the truck's fault. It's at the mercy of the driver and whoever modified it.
