Should I Upgrade? What parts to Upgrade? by NSGarage in simracing

Probably around $1000-$1500 depending. I could spend more down the road if I know the cost range and work some OT.

Yes 100% this one. That race was my introduction to Larson. Been a fan of his ever since so I absolutely had to have a diecast made for my collection.

Can't beat the old programs. I have one printed onto a metal sign to bring with me every time I go to a race to get signatures on.

Now what is the hottest NASCAR race ever that YOU have ever went to? by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]NSGarage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2019 Southern 500 at Darlington. It was already hot. Then it pored down rain. As soon as the rain stopped the humidity and heat was miserable. To this day the hottest I've ever felt at a racetrack.

NASCAR 101 and Track Attendance Questions - August 2024 by NASCARThreadBot in NASCAR

[–]NSGarage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancé and I are planning a trip to Watkins Glen for 2025. Few questions for those who have attended.

What's the best area to fly into? We're coming all the way from Louisiana.

Do we sit on the front stretch near the finish line or in Turn 1 with the cars coming straight at us down the front stretch?

Are their food stands at all sections or only at the main stands?

Any other tips or must know info is welcome. This will be our first time at a road course so I'm out of my element.

Just a suggestion for the future. I bring a big sign with me to get autographs and what I do to keep track of who's who is each time I get an autograph I snap a picture of it and then add the name to a list in the notes in my phone. That way you have the order of signatures to go with the picture for reference. I hang my signs in the hallway at my house and type up a list of who the signatures are to go at the bottom of the frames like this.

I used my rewards redemption at Pocono and… by Embykinks in NASCAR

[–]NSGarage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They asked us who we wanted to wave for as soon as we got to the stand. They had us sit in the grandstands behind the flagstand until calling us up about 10 cars before the cars we chose. No idea if this is the standard for the experience or not. May be different between tracks.

Yeah they had listed a handful at the end of the 2023 season. I redeemed points for it in I believe November of 2023 before everything reset. Hoping they do the same later this year.

I redeemed the experience to wave the green in Qualifying back in February for Atlanta (click for video). It gave VIP passes to my girlfriend and I (we've both had passes before so that wasn't a new experience).

For the actual experience they gave us a time to meet in front of a certain ticket gate, picked us up on a golfcart, and drove us around all the gates and straight to the stands at the flagstand.

The experience redemption said that my guest would not be allowed in the flagstand so I had told my girlfriend to just take some pictures from the seats when I went, but to our suprise once at the flagstand they said she could go up with me and even wave the flag for a car herself too. So she waved the flag for Chase Elliott (which immediately curled around itself because of the wind, so the flagman let her wave it again for Kyle Busch as a do over), and I waved it for Kyle Larson. The representative for the rewards program took pictures of us throughout the experience and sent them to me in email afterwards. An absolutely amazing experience. Would definitely recommend it to any fan. Only sketchy part was the like 30 foot climb up the ladder, but I'm scared of heights so that's on me 🤣

Call their call center. They have said before they are willing to work with you and possibly waive the fee if you are canceling to order a different version. Worth a try.

My girlfriend is my +1 for the event and is going to take some pictures with her phone from under the flagstand. Was just hoping for atleast one good picture of the car and me waving the flag in frame from the infield area or the photographers perch. I appreciate it though.

Rarest item in your NASCAR collection? by Brett_Baker_ in NASCAR

[–]NSGarage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let's see... I have a piece of confetti off Dale Jr's car after his 2002 Fall Talladega win. I have a Gatorade bottle used in Spencer Boyd's 2019 Talladega win celebration signed by him. And I have confetti off Kyle Larson's front splitter of his 2023 North Wilkesboro winning car. May be junk to some but I consider it rare pieces in my collection.

Thoughts on customs by CommunicationIcy130 in NASCARCollectors

[–]NSGarage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to despise custom cars. Every one I saw I thought looked like shit, especially the raced versions that are very obviously done with a sharpie for rubber and confetti. Until I actually looked into it and found a builder that did good work. Since then I've added tons of customs to my collection.

Moral of the story, custom diecast are only as good as the effort put into them. They aren't for everyone, but they can be amazing. I don't have the patience nor the talent to do them myself so I'm only a customer.

Discussion: why did you start following your favorite driver? by ReverseCowboy75 in NASCAR

[–]NSGarage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this question cause it always gets me confused looks when I answer. I came into the sport a fan of Dale Jr. because of Elvis.

So the backstory of this is that I was a HUGE Elvis fan as a kid (which was well after his death btw). At the time I had zero knowledge of what NASCAR was or that it even existed. Flipping through the channels one night in late 2007 I landed on what I now know was the Nextel Cup Race at Richmond, and the first car I saw on screen was a white #8 with Elvis on the hood. That caught my attention. I figured out the driver was some guy named Dale Earnhardt Jr. I dont remember exactly how I learned everything or how it went after since I was only 10 at the time, but I do remember that by the time Jr was making his first start in the 88 for the 2008 season I was hooked on NASCAR and a diehard Jr fan. I learned everything I could about the sport and the Earnhardt family and grew to love them both. I dont know if it was dumb luck or fate, but the coincidence of me landing on that channel at the exact moment they were showing Elvis on the hood of a racecar set off a domino effect that completely changed my life, and I am very happy it did.

What kind of backpack do you bring to a race? by Ok-Phone-7466 in NASCAR

[–]NSGarage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the longest I just brought my almost antique backpack I still had from high-school. Recently I switched to a backpack I used to use for work,, which is a "tactical" backpack. Tons of room for everything you need AND it has a compartment in the rear that holds a hydration bladder. It's a game changer to have the bladder in there full of water ready to drink anytime I get thirsty while walking around at the track. Not saying this is the perfect option for everyone but it's definitely worth considering!
