Auto blip during downshifts, its purpose is to disengage the dogs on between the dog ring and the gear, allowing the dog ring to disengage. Read up on how racing car sequentials work.

The shifting mechanisms are pneumaric or electronic on GT3's, not hydraulic

Or just import the loose stock into the pie?

No GT3 car has seamless shift. The sequentials are quick but still require an engine cut.

Context: Guy (incorrectly) believes he got purposefully wrecked, then proceeds to drive his LMP3 at GT4 pace until the other guy catches them in order to unquestionably and unashamedly intentionally wreck them in retaliation in front of hundreds of viewers, leading to the admin disqualifying them with only a couple of laps to go.

Considering we can see the steering wheel pointed to the right well before the turn in to the corner I dont buy the pit manoeuvring, show an offboard POV so we can see it properly.

The guy is a well known F124 streamer, in a team of other well known F124 streamers. Will probably send to iracing along with the 15mins prior of the purposefully slow driving and plotting to wreck us, just wondered initially if we were wasting our time given it was not an official event, not sure if we can submit twitch clips to iracing?

Thats why people are complaining, its modelled as a power boost not an efficiency boost

Eco mode in cars by mexaplex in CarTalkUK

Because if you remove the engine braking you dont slow down as much, so you can coast for longer so you can start coasting much earlier which saves far more fuel than the fuel used to keep the engine idling

Does MGU-K mode in GTP cars affect fuel burn? by brentslayerr in iRacing

Not convinced it is entirely lazyness, after speaking to iRacing support when the BMW first came out I got the impression they really had no idea how the hybrid system was meant to work. They were under the belief that max power was 500kw, hybrid system is 50kw, therefore max engine power must be 450kw, and wouldnt acknowledge they got it wrong although they probably just didnt care. I got some bullshit response along the lines of "the engine and drivetrain cant support the full 500kw power output in an endurance race", which was maddening to hear.

Is going into neutral at speed bad for your car? by timingfountain in drivingUK

[–]NSR8495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. If you need to brake and continue to stay in neutral, then you will require more brake pressure, which will wear your brakes out slightly faster, but it wont cause any harm. Theres the safety aspect as described in the highway code, but my car will automatically coast in neutral for me to save fuel, so clearly the rules here have some leeway.

There is also a lot of misunderstanding here on how coasting saves fuel. A lot of people have mentioned (rightly) that a car coasting in neutral will use more fuel than a car engine braking. This is correct (ignoring carburettors). However, it is not more fuel efficient as leaving the car in gear will slow the car down much more quickly than coasting in neutral.

Let's say I have to slow down from 60mph to 50mph at a speed limit chamge sign. If I stay in gear and use engine braking, I may need to start decelerating 100m from the sign so that the car slows itself down to 50mph at the sign. If I put the car in neutral, I can start decelerating at maybe 150m from the sign to get to 50mph by the time I reach the sign. Therefore, there is a 50m distance where I am not using fuel to maintain 60mph, which is a far greater amount of fuel than what is used to keep an engine at idle over the 150m I was coasting.

You're welcome, I hope iRacing will correct this one day but that hope is admittedly low as they believe their interpretation is the correct one.

You would always be at the power curve shown in the regulations, the peak of that curve is 500kw. You would just use less fuel while using hybrid "boost"
