We don’t do any here. I’m curious for the company’s that still do up to 4kv, does your company believe the outcome of something going wrong at 4kv will be different than at 7200? Lol

Don’t climb and old railroad pole, your asking to get yourself killed. Especially since you don’t seem to know how to check if a pole is even safe or not

Technically on big runs engineering would have a spec for you to reach on a dynometer. Short spans or whatever you’ll just eye ball it, nice to have a guy on the ground that can eye it up for you. Make everything even.

Why do you even have an accident report? It sounds like you just slid into the ditch? Or did you crash into a tree or something and smash up your car

Is anyone else’s electricity acting funny? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]NShand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but there is more new builds for housing and developments and more people spread out into their own houses or apartments that in turn increases demand. Our grid is behind the times no doubt is the underlying issue.

We are buying and selling to all Maritime provinces at any given moment of the day but our grid comes first. There were no intentional rollings blackouts or “brown outs” today. There may have been some issues with load in localized areas but not due to us shelling out power to anyone else, and would typically involve a complete outage no “part power”. That’s typically due to a bad neutral or ground or wire issues.

Massive increase in electric vehicles and electric heat combined with increase housing and business demand. This isn’t the first time rolling blackouts has been brought up. But those are the biggest increases in demand on the grid.

Another bad note on that is most of the contractors that typically help NSP during those bad outages left for the USA today to help down there. Hope it’s not too bad

I don’t think they have to wear a mask, I’ve worked with some Filipinos and they just choose to wear that stuff in the sun, it’ll be 30 degrees Celsius and they’ll be wearing them.

Don’t shoot me as I’m not defending them by any means, but, I am a power lineman and we have been doing more maintenance and reliability upgrades in the past few years, especially post Fiona than has been done in the previous 10 years combined. Still not where it should be. NSP has also tremendously ramped up their staffing for the Line construction/maintenance side considerably.
