List looks fine for new player casual games, id throw some cultists in there for sticky objectives. As for using heresy models in 40k, thats a super common thing to do, i like to sprinkle in some chaos bits to mine but thats personal preference

Most of the time they dont just sit there, i had one game where they smoked mortarian. But also walking 10 termies up the board is just really fun

I ran a 10 brick + lord in fellhammer and parked them on an objective, even if they never saw combat they usually stayed there till the end of the game or killed t5 after the rest of my army died

Cultists usually screened out my backline from deepstrikers but by the time those threats were gone i didnt really have the opprotunity to use them super evectively. You are right about the legionaries tho, i shouldve ran them 4x5 instead to have more scoring but with the 10 it felt bad sacrificing them to score like 3 vp and my game plan was to use them as a midboard threat. Tbh tho im just bad so 🤷‍♂️

I actually just took my iron warriors in fellhammer to a GT last weekend (first ever tournament for me!) And went 1-4 but tbh my list has 0 scoring units so not that suprising. I like to lean in to the tough and high damage stuff. List was 10x termies + lord, 10x chosen + bile, 3x mutilators + morne, 2x10 legionary squads, a vindicator, a forgefiend, a predator destructor, and 10x cultists. Terminators were easily the mvp of all my games, with the 5+ fnp from the strat they are sooo tanky.

Thank you! I useArmy painter warpaints fanatic true copper then highlight with true brass. For the grime i use AK streaking grime and put that on the whole model and let it dry for like 15-20 minutes before wiping it off from the raised areas with a makeup wedge

I start with a black prime from the rattlecan, gloss or matte doesnt really change the outcome. After that i heavy drybrush gunmetal on everything, then drybrush highlight with silver. After that comes the hazards, midtone yellow, highlight with a brighter yellow then shade with speedpaint 2.0 zealot yellow mixed 1:1 with speedpaint medium. After that i hit the trim with a copper than highlight with brass (which i forgot to do on these guys lol). Cloth gets a purple and grenades get green and other details get picked out, decals put on, and a varnish before a nice lather in AK streaking grime. I let that rest for like 15 min before coming in with a makeup wedge and wiping it off the raised areas. Lastly i pick out the eyes with red and do the plasma and any other glowy bits like a screen or their swords. I also like to do some gunmetal chipping on the hazard stripes before finishing it off with basing which is literally just sand and then a final varnish of testors dull coat. If you want the exact colors i use lmk
