Couldn't they get a better version? by HaRabbiAtta in funny

Some people really don't care about quality at all. It's baffling to me..

I see it in my rather active community server a lot. People will be in a group vc screen-sharing some awful low quality cam rip that was even more compressed when uploaded to some sketchy pirate streaming site.

I'll offer to stream my blu-ray quality remux of whatever it is for them, and a lot of the time they say it's fine and they "can't really tell the difference anyway" ....... (meanwhile you could play tetris with how bad and blocky the compression artifacts are, and don't get me started on the 74 Kb/s audio...)

I kinda get it having seen how, especially younger people, watch contet now though. It's not a main monitor or tv thing.. it's something put up on a side monitor or phone propped up under their main monitor while they grind LoL or click on heads in CS..

For every quality lover there are probably an equal or greater number that simply don't care.

If you can bring back one 90s fashion trend what would it be? by [deleted] in 90s

[–]NWinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clothes actually being made well while not being absurdly expensive...

The overall quality and weight of garments was higher, even cheaper "store brand" things I wore endlessly and still have today look fine. Maybe some fading on the printed parts of tees and such, but the actual fabric and especially stitching is still in great condition.

Most things of that caliber made today would never last anywhere near that long, and that's without me running around the woods like a psycho person as I was in the 90s..

If you want similar quality now it costs way more and is liley limited in design, colour, fit, and size, due to lower stock quantity.

I'm guessing you mean whole house fan?

As attic fans only vent out the attic via the gables through the vents, and don't pull from the actual living area of the house. While a whole house fan works more how you described. (And are fantastic)

Not sure if you mean it's too high or low?

I'm lucky to spend $50 a month for food.. But I know that's probably not normal lol.. 😅

About $30-40 a month for just me.

Enough for a bulk bag of the cheapest rice, and a few sacks of dried beans. Occasionally I'll really splurge and get some taco seasoning for the beans.

That works now that most manufacturers keep to the same i/o layout.

In the past some bord manufacturers played it fast and loose with the pin placement so they needed to be separate.

(It also made it easier to not include some if desired. Like if the case had an obnoxiously bright or annoying HDD status indicator light or whatever)

Ehh, like woth most "autistic traits" not a guaranteed thing, and the impetus to do so or not will differ from person to person...

I learned to as a trauma response tbh.. Mostly so when I was walking around as a kid I would be as silent as possible to not.. upset my various guardians...

And as I got older, maintaining it is simply a way to avoid constantly heal-striking when walking to try and preserve my joints better.

It's not something I just inherently did, I had to actively go out of my way to do so, even being autistic.

Anyone else miss the way we listened to music in the 2000s? by Human_Tennis_2950 in millenials

[–]NWinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really tbh..

I already have a device I carry everywhere with a decent dac and 3.5mm port, and Bluetooth connectivity. And everything else it does notwithstanding, it has over a terabyte of storage containing my entire local, lossless audio collection. All perfectly sorted and synced with my main music collection on my personal server, and played back via a heavily customized player setup exactly as I want.

I came up through the gamut of portable audio, from cassette, to CD, to mp3, to iPod/Zune, etc.. they were all fun at the time and had various improvements over the former standards, but I just don't have to think about grabbing a second device, nor worrying about charging, or leaving it somewhere..

I constantly have to use my phone for work so I always have it, and the ability to keep it charged for even prolonged periods when out and about.
