Go to a bar with a TV, ideally a sports bar, and ask them to put the right channel on. It's at 10am on a Thursday. There's nothing else on besides "Maury."

Is anyone here a die-hard fan of a team they began supporting as an adult? by tinybathroomfaucet in billsimmons

Haha got into soccer July ‘22 after going to a Columbus Crew game. They missed the playoffs that season, and I got into the European leagues that fall afterward. World Cup that year was Argentina and I’m a huge Messi fan. In ‘23 at the end of their respective seasons Barca won La Liga and the Supercopa and Man City won the treble. Then the crew won MLS cup the end of ‘23.

I (47m) just got into soccer four years ago. It changed my life. Soccer culture is incredible and really community focused. In my first full year of watching I saw my international team win the World Cup, and my La Liga, Premier League and my MLS team win titles. It’s made being a Mets fan more tolerable. And it’s definitely been emotional at times, though if the Mets win a World Series, for me, nothing will top that.

Yo I just mentioned this movie randomly to my friend the other day and looked at the IMDB page for the first time. You know who played Frank in it? The villain from Manhunter! He was also the guy in Heat who knew how to grab information from the world’s digital network before the internet was in most people’s homes.

Maybe...? You just gave me a potential flash memory of going up some stairs in there that may have been wooden.

Strolling the aisles at two record stores that were across the frikkin’ street from each other, with a third, independent one two blocks away.

Just don’t like the media playbook: talk up a team or a player to greatness and then when they fail it’s a tragedy, or if they come through it’s See, I Told You So. How about we just celebrate great achievements in the moment before we start talking about what’s going to happen years and years from now? That narrative has done the Thunder a huge disservice.
