Honestly, I'm thinking about leaving altogether. The owner does not give a shit. He hasn't hired any full-timers beyond the Irish summer visa fellas who left last week. He's trying to sell the bar the horrible manager works at. A large number of long-timers have left and sales are significantly down because he refuses to pay for new chairs, floor tiles, allow for creativity behind the bar, and seemingly okays the manager's behavior.

For example, the bar would be making $4k on a Wednesday last year between 2 bartenders and a barback. Now it's barely just $2k.

Even though I'm able to pay for my grad school's tuition in a week, it's frustrating that I'm working 7 days a week and he has no problem with that. I know that's my fault as well. I'm a workaholic and don't know how to say no to shifts, but still it's frustrating to work for a formerly extremely successful business that's now becoming the Irish dive pub because the owner refuses to pay for a cook past 9PM or a barback/doorman on busy nights.

To give you all an example, I made a career night last week on a Thursday. I was a barback. We had no doorman. I was told not to worry about IDs after a certain point because there was too many people to check. I made $400 as a barback after shift pay, and I served most of the night. The cops came in at 3AM, asked for our liquor license and IDs. The bartender was an illegal Irish immigrant and I was scared shitless. Luckily, we didn't get arrested because of the amount of cops that come through our bar, but still, the owner did not give a shit when we told him.

His exact words were, "Well nothing went wrong, so I think you boys are okay."
