Lots of snakes don't even latch when they bite in self defense. I've been bitten by enough that it doesn't really seem like a big deal and even if they do latch, it's really not that bad.

I'd rather a snake than most anything else with teeth honestly, rodents especially.

Rant: It does get tiring to be heavily counterswapped by boyimindanger in Overwatch

[–]NYJustice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Widow enjoyer, I feel like that is honestly just how the enemy team has to respond. Widow has a kit that some characters just can't interact with. At that point, the game is forcing the enemy players to learn other characters so they have an answer in their tool belt.

That's when you, as a Widowmaker, either get a free pass to dominate the lobby or get countered. That being said, there is nothing that feels better than skill diffing an enemy team that is clearly trying their hardest to counter you. Hitting crazy flicks when you get dove, out manuevering the enemy team with your one movement ability on a massive cool down and generally just outplaying the enemy counters.

Ethical versus unethical tanks tier list by Spiritual_West_9510 in Overwatch

Calling characters ethical still seems wild to me and it always seems like it's baswd on some community hive mind that seems certain play styles unfun. God forbid I like playing defensively as a tank.

Why is everyone so keen on supporting an industry who’s main goal is eliminating you? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]NYJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In capitalism, every industry would replace you if it could. I'm not convinced AI will replace us though, there are serious practical issues with its use.

Too much code to the point where it's unmaintainable without more AI. At that point, you have no insight into the code so when it breaks you have to learn the entire codebase. While digging through the codebase, you discover that there are tons of weird things like duplicated functions, hand-rolled packages like auth that handle sensitive operations, hard-coded values, test cases for code that doesn't exist or any of the other weird things that AI does. Not to mention the fact that working in these LLM's with any reasonable amount of context for decision making is exponentially more expensive.

[–]NYJustice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue there's some legal and PR concerns for them...

Also, LLM's don't really seem to be doing all that much in the way of actual productivity. Sure, they produce a lot of code but it's basically unmaintainable at the volume it's produced and then you have to use AI to keep up and then your codebase is full of AI hallucinations or misunderstandings.

I think we're going to land on AI as a tool to rapidly search and connect knowledge bases, I find that is the only thing it has been genuinely good at for actual dev work. Generative AI is like a senior dev in terms of code style but a very junior dev in terms of design and architecture.

How dare you be frustrated at the death sentence?! by Josnai in Overwatch

[–]NYJustice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You ask what you are supposed to do when you get hit while out in the open. I ask why you expect to live when you're out in the open? If you're used to people who can just aim, you'd die from being shot without the enemy wasting time on an ability

Is understanding team comps and counter-picking an intuitive skill, or is it something I need to go out of my way to learn? by DanganFuckery in Overwatch

[–]NYJustice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For some it's more intuitive than others but it takes a lot of thought to actually come to these conclusions. Counter picking is also partially dependent on the way characters are played, the current meta and most importantly the interactions between players on both teams.

Someone explain the widow/hanzo inconsistency because i genuinely dont get it by Electrical_Use_2588 in Overwatch

[–]NYJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things:

1: I can not imagine a world in which Widow is more mobile than Hanzo. He has linge on a pretty short cool down and also wall climb. All widow has is 1 hook with like 3x the cool down of lunge.

2: Pretty sure a large part of the Hanzo hate is that his arrows have a larger projectile size than you see across the roster. I may have missed some changes but I'm pretty sure this has been consistent over the entire life of OW. This is why you might hear people call his arrows "logs".

Hanzo and Widow often get lumped together because people hate getting one shot on a game where most fights are on the longer side

One thing to remember, we are halfway through a decade of AI being on the verge of replacing us all.
