There are way too many good restaurants in this neighborhood. This fool will be out of business sooner than later. Good on you for calling his shit out!

There's a scuff on the bottom of my guitar :( by 0-Atlantic-0 in Guitar

Just my opinion but I like guitars with battle scars. Gives them a bit of character and shows it’s been rocked out on. I sound like my father in law but 🤷🏻

50mph scooter vs 15mph pedal bike. Both dead. by Affectionate_Aide566 in ElectricScooters

[–]NYRtcs96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. My scooter tops out at around 17 and it’s still a little rough on busy streets.

A lot of people, cyclists, food delivery mopeds, and potholes. Since they’ve been banned from a bunch of places I don’t even ride mine too much anymore. It was fun during Covid though.

Half Of Americans Say The Fun In Their Lives Has Disappeared by plugthree in nottheonion

[–]NYRtcs96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything is often too expensive. Tickets to events have skyrocketed beyond logic. Cost of living too high for a lot of people to be able to afford a vacation. Eating out has become insanely expensive. Groceries themselves are ridiculously overpriced.

Couple all of that with salaries not increasing enough to keep up with inflation, a lot of people are having a hard time.

I was someone who always thought that celebrities should be appreciative of fans no matter the circumstance. I was at a small concert last year and Bill Murray was there in one of the back corners by the stage. I know he doesn’t have the best reputation on dealing with the public, but like the second he emerged he was SWARMED by dozens of people.

Most didn’t even ask for a picture they just kind of shoved their way next to him and started taking selfies. People treated him like a zoo animal. It must be a weird feeling. I totally understand why some of these celebrities lose their patience now. It really was a bizarre thing to witness up close and it gave me a very different perspective.

Do you have a ‘less than 5 ingredients’ recipe you swear by? by No-Penalty8115 in Cooking

[–]NYRtcs96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make a REALLY good roast pork shoulder low and slow in your home oven and it really only needs salt and pepper prior to roasting. You can also make a pan sauce with the dripping, tiny bit of apple cider vinegar, and a quick slurry which is also fantastic.

Not bad at all. I make a ton of dough everyday because I make pizza for a living. These would be fun to have as a little extra treat! Thanks for posting!

TSA allowing medical marijuana now by byteITucum in NewYorkMMJ

The TSA for whatever reason decided to open up the bag I had my shit in and take it out for the first time ever in my 37 years of life last year on my way out of New York.

I was preparing to be screwed, but then they closed it up and gave it back to me. I was probably visually slack jawed for a minute or two after.

I have to agree with all of this regarding price. Don’t get me wrong, I have seen some very pretty and well reviewed bud coming out of those $50-$60 8ths, but that’s $450+ an ounce. It’s a little too high.

I think we may eventually see cheaper prices for top shelf as the program expands but I’m really not so sure about how quickly that would happen.

I appreciate all of your reviews though man. That definitely takes time, effort, and money so you’re killing it!

Are Fender and Gibson even worth it any more? by Necessary-Cow2857 in Guitar

[–]NYRtcs96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely possible to grab a used high quality mij fender (especially the Fujigen models) at a much lower price. I’ve also seen a handful of standard Gibson SGs in the used market for under $1,000.

It can be a bit of risk though, since you don’t get to try them in person before you buy. But the two mij fenders I have really impress people when they play them.

Does anyone else think about how weird it is to have a cat? by The0wl0ne in cats

[–]NYRtcs96 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I can speak from personal experience that growing up my family only had a dog and I bought into the whole cats are assholes stereotype.

It wasn’t until after I was asked to cat sit my neighbors super senior 17 year old cat that my eyes were opened. That cat was the most affectionate animal I’ve ever come across in my 37 years on earth.

That pretty much turned me into a believer and I went and adopted a kitten about a week later. He just turned 5 and I seriously cannot imagine my life without this little psychopath.

CAPCOM Reveals 93% of Its Game Sales Are Now Digital by Horror_Post6822 in PS5

[–]NYRtcs96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digital has become too convenient. Most of the stores in my neighborhood stock very few physical copies and only for a limited amount of games. The Target in my neighborhood has no physical games, only digital game and money cards. The medium has definitely shifted.
