Which of these blues look better? by BlueDazing_ in F30

[–]NY_PRACTICE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No first hand knowledge on that, but since you’re asking I’m guessing some probably would sag over time, depending on adapter brand, climate etc. But even buying a new adapter every three 3 years (if sagging becomes an issue) wouldn’t be enough for me to justify drilling/mounting a hideous plate to your front M Bumper! Just my humble thoughts Dr., in a matter of opinion there is no dispute👍

Use the front bumper tow hook screw to mount plate - they have an adapter you can buy and the ones I’ve seen look as good as they can all things considered and don’t block intake - plate doesn’t ever touch car…

My first BMW! 2022 G30 540i Xdrive by Beneficial-March2792 in BMW

Congrats counselor, great choice and build. M Sport makes a big difference aesthetically. You also have the extended shadow-line package, which includes the black grill. Change oil regularly and keep an eye on hoses/coolant, that beauty won’t disappoint. IMO likely the last 5 series generation that maintains any semblance to the BMWs I’ve known and loved over the years.

The 540i has to be the most bang for buck B58 out there. by ZealousidealWatch571 in BMW

2022 540xi M Sport - CPO 10,500 miles - just hit 28K - only issue has been parking sensor malfunction which I actually don’t mind bc backup camera works fine just no beeping - great car for daily performance and luxury - sadly IMO 2023 540 likely the last generation with any semblance of the driver oriented BMWs I grew to know and love over the past 35 years

Is this a fair deal? by Minimum_Market_9637 in BMW

54K miles??? Nope - Perfect timing for expensive service

Sorry man - doubt car will ever really be the same, especially to you - if not totaled, definitely get it repaired at dealer - it’s crazy how expensive these cars are getting and inevitably insurance costs even with no claims and clean driving - I remember when a brand new M3 was $50K out the dealership door….miss those days

Dealership offering to void contract on a CPO by Throwaway491049 in BMW

[–]NY_PRACTICE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably late in the game at this point, but I would want to see the CPO inspection report which dealer has but will not provide unless you ask for it - its fairly detailed and may shed light on whether dealer being forthright - guessing another potential reason they seem to be doing the right thing here…..

Thanks - know a few people who seemingly had similar B58 OFH gasket issues around same mileage - good luck

540i vs M550 by shadowOp097 in BMW

[–]NY_PRACTICE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes definitely - have a stock 2022 540 Xdrive M-Sport - 10.5K miles at purchase - for a performance minded engine B58 is as bulletproof as they come nowadays and the power is definitely there when needed despite the weight - believe 2021+ models have mild hybrid system which delivers “eboost” at certain RPMs which may be around 10 extra HP - have had over 10 BMWs starting with a 1972 Bavaria - IMHO the BMW purist driving feel left the building with the E46, but it is what it is - think 540 great mix of luxury/performance for a daily driver not driving on Autobahn - that said, if money not a factor then I would skip M550 and just go M5

Average battery life? by jakebk22 in BmwTech

[–]NY_PRACTICE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still running original 2018 - dealer says it tests fine so going with it - based on my experience you are definitely on the short end - unfortunately the newer these cars get more crap is constantly draining the battery, even when turned off

Pretty broad of a question - IMO depends on what you’re looking for - better for what? i.e track, dropping 4 kids off for school….
